190 TopicsHow to remove the Welcome Message when a new member joins a group.
We are moving from an on-premise Exchange 2013 environment (using Hybrid) and we have to move our DLs to the cloud. I can create them through powershell as a distribution group, but that does not write back to our local AD (using AADConnect). So using the Unified Group commands, I can create them and they write back. The problem is the welcome message. We are not ready for users to use the extra features of the groups, plus we have users that are a part of several hundred DLs, based on what customers they take care of. I see the attribute WelcomeMessageEnabled, but am unable to change that to $False. I have also tried using mail rules to delete the message based on content in subject or body, but again no go. Does anyone have any way of turning these off? This will create a huge helpdesk and support nightmare if I can not turn these off. Thanks, Jason.Solved161KViews0likes36CommentsCannot add a "contact" in Exchange Online to an Office 365 Group as a Guest
Looks like this is an issue - I have successfully been able to add external recipients as guests in an Office 365 Group if they are not listed in the GAL, however when I come to add a contact listed in the GAL as a guest, I receive the below warning; "You are trying to add a contact created by your admin. Contact your admin to add the user as a guest to this group" Help please. ThanksSolved66KViews6likes31CommentsChange O365 group email address using powershell

Dear Experts, is there a way to extend existing SharePoint team sites so they become Office 365 groups? There is already a migration option for distribution list but I suspect some customers rather have team sites as a starting point for a group purpose.Solved30KViews5likes31CommentsSmall group shared calendar does not update
Hello, I just migrated a client to 365 from exchange on prem, were trying out office 365 groups for the first time and having a TERRIBLE experience with the shared calendar. This is a small law firm that handles all of their bookings through the shared law firms calendar, and within 2 days they had 5 meetings double booked due to the shared calendar not updating in peoples outlook desktop. The group was set up and the calendar added under everyones outlook calendar tab. half of the users could not book the calendar even though they had owner rights in the group. We had to rebuild their outlook profiles to get the shared calendar to work. Now, even though they can add appointments directly to the calendar from desktop outlook, the other users have to leave their calendar, click on the group in outlook and open the calendar from there, and as soon as they do the group calendar updates in the calendars tab. one suggetion I found online was to disable downloading of shared folders in outlook account. I did this last night and they are going to test today... If this does not work we will be ditching groups and just creating a sharepoint calendar for their team to use.28KViews0likes20CommentsOffice 365 Groups will now have unique mailNickname
Hi all, We've completed an enhancement with the Azure Active Directory team which will now enforce mailNickname to be unique across all Office 365 Groups within a tenant. This will help ensure resiliency across the tenant and facilitate smooth sync scenarios to on-premises. When Office 365 Groups are created, the name provided is used for mailNickname as well as the first portion of SMTP Address. Previously, Office 365 Group creation did not enforce the mailNickname to be unique across Office 365 Groups. If multiple Office 365 Groups contain the same mailNickname, customers can encounter collisions when these groups are sync’d to on-premises via AAD Connect. In Azure Active Directory, an enforcement has been placed on the mailNickname property so that it will be unique across Office 365 Groups. Previously created Office 365 Groups that have duplicate mailNicknames will not be affected. If a user attempts to modify the mailNickname property through PowerShell or other means, the service will verify whether the new mailNickname being specified is unique. If not, the modification will be rejected. Additionally, a user can create an Office 365 Group that has the same mailNickname as an Office 365 Group that has been soft deleted. If a user attempts to restore the soft deleted group, they will be prompted to change the mailNickname. Hello, I've been trying to see about adding some external email addresses for vendors that need to be in the loop frequently. The vendors have email addresses from their own domain. I have already added the addresses as contacts in Office 365 address list, but when I try to add them to a pre-exisitng group synced by AD it won't let me because it is synced with AD (which makes sense). So I created a group directly in Office 365, but it only seems to be allowing me to add users of our own domain, and not these external addresses. How can this best be done?27KViews0likes2CommentsIntroducing 'Follow in inbox' and other improvements for managing group emails in Outlook
