While renaming a Section, OneNote seems to have some sort of short timeout timer where if you don't start typing quickly enough, or don't hit enter soon enough after finishing, it completely bails on the renaming operation and reverts back to the previous name. The timer seems to be shorter when creating a new section. Hitting the "+" pops up a new section with the section label in edit mode. If you don't type something quickly enough (< 3 seconds) - it exits edit mode and leaves the label as "Section X". For section renaming, if you double-click on the section tab label, the label switches to "edit" mode and the full label is highlighted. If you wait too long to start typing, it either exits edit mode by itself or waits until you type something (anything) and exits edit mode completely ignoring what you typed. If you do type something but don't finish immediately by hitting enter, the timer expires and any keyboard input after the timer expires causes edit mode to exit and the new label you typed to be ignored. It seems this might be intentional (Ill-conceived) behavior - attempting to prevent inadvertent renaming of sections if someone accidentally presses keyboard keys or puts something on their keyboard that causes inadvertent keyboard presses. If that's the case it's an exceeding clumsy attempt and needs to be rethought. The current behavior in this regard is very annoying. If the desire is to ignore inadvertent section renaming, a study needs to be done to understand the characteristics of accidental keypresses. I'd be willing to bet that rapid same-character sequences that result from the same key being pressed and held are much more indicative of inadvertent input than the total time taken to start or finish a renaming operation after edit mode is entered. You could also create an additional hurdle to enter edit mode e.g. eliminating the doubleclick option and only allow right-click followed by drop drown menu selection. Has anyone else experienced this? Has Microsoft ever commented on this issue.1.6KViews4likes2CommentsOneNote’s new Sticky Notes feature for Windows receives update

I am no longer able to convert my One Note pages to PDF on mac. The end of the One Note page does not shows on my PDF document and some pages do not appear. It worked fine a few weeks ago and still works on Windows. Microsoft support could not help me and thought it might be a bug. Is there something I can do?11Views0likes0CommentsPlease add Markdown support
Please add support for Markdown editing/rendering. EverNote and Boostnote all support this, but OneNote still lacks this feature, while it remains so many developers' main notetaking tool. Take myself as an example, I enjoy its seamless integration with OneDrive and powerful search function, but find it difficult to properly take down coding related notes -- I was forced to format code snippets into monospaced font with shading to make them look like "code snippets". To elaborate the user story about this idea: The user can create a new "regular page" or a "Markdown page". If the latter, then Markdown tags entered are rendered as you type (e.g. #title, >quote, *bold*, `code`...) The user might also enjoy a "cell editing" mode (similar to Jupyter Notebook). So if the cursor is placed in a cell, then it changes to raw text view. And once escaped from this cell, it gets rendered. And maybe enable some Jupyter/VS Code stype shortcut keys, too (Alt+Up/Down to move the cell, Alt+Shift+Up/Down to duplicate the cell, Ctrl+Shift+K to kill a line, etc) This way notetaking will be more efficient/fun, and many developers would thank MS!114KViews192likes71CommentsCustom tags available soon in OneNote
We’re extremely excited to bring custom tags to our users in the next few weeks! With this feature, users will be able to name the tag and select an icon to create a custom tag that will sync across devices and show up in app search results. Add custom tags to your pages and stay organized in whatever way helps you achieve more!68KViews14likes39CommentsOneNote - Inserting Code Blocks
Are there any plans for a way to format code blocks in OneNote without inserting a 1 column/row table or an ugly print out? The most relevant Google search brings up a post from 2018 where the top answer says its been requested on UserVoice and directs OP there, but 3 years later, still no code block formatting options and Microsoft isn't using UserVoice anymore so I don't where else I can submit feature requests besides this discussion board. Thanks!311KViews9likes18CommentsOneNote only Searching current Section
Search in my OneNote works differently than I read it should. When I search in is only looking in the current section of my notebook. Since I tend to have many sections without a lot of pages in each section, if I knew what section(s) what I was looking for was in I could find it by looking. Any idea what might be wrong and how to get search working properly?Solved2.4KViews0likes5CommentsOneNote not Converting Devanagari Handwriting to Text.
