Entra ID Service not running?
hello everyone, we get a notification on our email that the Entra ID Sync service is not running, while it is set to automatic. then 30 minutes later, at the next scheduled sync, it resolves itself. our event viewer shows 1 export error with event ID 6100, that was an user were the inheritance wasn't set up properly, we fixed that, but that did not fix the error in the title. we googled, but really only found "turn on your service and set it to automatic" which is not that helpful. i checked using AI, but that did not go anywhere either. "your internet might have been down" yeah thank you, if that was the case, we would have noticed a wider spread outage.. we thought it might be a throttling issue, but it happens at seemingly random times, so not only during daily start up. so we are kind of at a loss to how to properly fix this, any suggestions?
BITS Downloading App updates from unknown endpoint
Hi, Our IDS started freaking out today because a large number of our endpoints started initiating BITS downloads to an unknown endpoint. My initial reaction was ransomware, but after further investigation it appears that these BITS downloads are updates for Windows Store Apps. I am making this post to confirm that these endpoints are actually indeed official Microsoft endpoints. The BITS requests I had seen were all for the Limelight Networks CDN (llnwd[.]net), which I have heard hosts content for a lot of MSPs, one of which being Microsoft. Checking the logs, it appears that our workstations have never made BITS requests to this CDN. All previous BITS updates were carried out using official microsoft.com endpoints. The following are some examples of the domains seen in the BITS requests: ic-c39e4900-0f7065-msftstoretlu19.s.loris.llnwd[.]net ic-c39e4900-0d5ab5-msftstore19.s.loris.llnwd[.]net ic-c39e4900-08b3f9-msftstore19.s.loris.llnwd[.]net ic-c39e4900-0700f8-msftstore19.s.loris.llnwd[.]net Although all my investigations point to these being official Microsoft endpoints, I am worried that a CDN is being used because a malicious actor could easily mangle the URLs to make them look like official Microsoft ones. Is this the correct place to confirm that the above sub-domains are official Microsoft, and if not where should I ask this question instead? Hi All, Is there anyway I can turn a PowerShell script into a Windows Service that will start whenever a computer starts. First we need to turn the *.PS1 script into an *.exe app. It would be ideal if this can be done with windows products and not third party apps. I hope you can help Colin
Potential Improvement - Content Decryption Unproductive CPU utilisation
MissyQDeleted Utility: Media Foundation Content Decryption Module Service consumes a lot of extra unwanted CPU as in the below screenshot it can be seen to be consuming 15% CPU in Browser Task Manager which it is consuming in vain by doing extra work of transferring the media data to the Windows Decription Module. Instead try optimizing it by sharing the bowser's media data with decryption module and render it by just drawing output frames of decryption module. This way it will be optimized like Films and Tv app which hardly consumes 1% CPU and just consumes GPU. Try to remove this middle decryption layer service as it is not performing any productive computation. The reason this small performance issue I am highlighting is that as the playback rate increases the CPU usage of this service increases which is not a good sign. I have conveyed it through feedback. This Video Playback through Media Foundation is a very important flag which if optimized will make it best upcoming built-in browser and this feature will also save much battery if optimized. o
Booking service expiration or date range
I'm assuming this is going to be a feature request/suggestion, but we'd love to be able set certain Booking services to expire. We have projects that don't run indefinitely, so we only want folks to book those for a specific date range. Any suggestions? Thanks! Aaron :)
