We’re preparing to upgrade a group of devices from Windows 10 to Windows 11 using a feature update deployment policy and Ring update policy. Our goal is to provide our users with the most notifications and control possible before the mandatory deadline is reached, allowing them the opportunity to initiate the update themselves. However, I’m confused about the deadline and grace period countdown. According to this article, the countdown starts after the installation completes. Enforce compliance deadlines with policies - Windows Update for Business | Microsoft Learn Is there a way to use Intune Windows Updates management to allow users to control when they launch the Windows 11 upgrade process before it becomes mandatory, while also providing notifications to the user? We want to temporarily block users from upgrading to 24H2 until we have time to test core applications, such as security and VPN software. I tried the registry method found in this article - Specify Target Feature Update Version in Windows 11 Tutorial | Windows 11 Forum (elevenforum.com). I then went to Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com) and ran the Windows 11 Installation Assistant. 24H2 was installed, instead of being blocked. I'm guessing TargetReleaseVersion only works with Windows Update and not if a user chooses to manually upgrade the OS. Can anyone confirm if TargetReleaseVersion should also block manual upgrades?Solved9.2KViews0likes2CommentsUpgrading Windows 11 on Co-Managed Entra Joined Devices with Intune
Dear Support, All of our Windows 10 devices are managed through SCCM and Microsoft Intune, with shared workloads piloted through Intune. Below are the details from one of our testing devices, Here is the testing device details, Co-management configuration settings: As per the instructions provided , I have created a profile under "Update rings for Windows 10 and later" and manually synced it from the company portal, Intune device console, and Account or Work School > Info > Sync. However, I do not see any prompts or progress regarding the Windows 10 upgrade. I verified in event viewer, Application and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > DeviceManagement-Enterprise-Diagnostics-Provider -> admin, I see there was an error “MDM Session : OMA-DM message failed to be sent. Result: (Unknown Win32 Error code: 0x801901ad)” I checked in google the error message indicates that, the device was unable to sync because of network connection issues so restarted the device to see if this error get rid from the event viewer but I got another issue in event viewer , “MDM ConfigurationManager: Command failure status. Hi everyone, I opened a ticket with Microsoft but maybe someone already encountered this and can help. We deployed a .1x wireless network and until last Thursday it worked perfectly. here is the setup we use: On Thursday I renamed all the profiles associated with the wireless network to reflect for which clients this profile is for and what it does. Apparently this resulted in deleting the wireless profile from the clients... I decided to recreate the policies of the trusted root certificate profile, PKCS certificate profile and the wireless profile but it still didn't work. The picture above is another wireless network I deployed to test whether the problem is with the wireless name but the new profile also didn't deploy. I also deployed a basic network which deployed successfully. Worth noting but maybe unrelated, We blocked the public store and I checked the policy to make sure it was deployed successfully. any ideas? Hello all, I have a question from 1 of my clients: In this environment there are a lot of Windows 11 laptops being used as shared devices. All devices are managed with Intune and the devices are deployed with a self deploying Autopilot profile. The problem experienced on these shared devices is that regularly the device gets unlocked because the previous user is still logged into it. Another user cannot be selected and the existing user has to log out first. We have already ensured that the user cannot lock the laptop in standard ways. We now have the impression that it is due to windows updates and then the option therein "Install updates and restart". When you use this option the laptop comes back in this unlocked state. If you click on the 2nd option "Install updates and shut down" then it goes fine. Is there a rule or setting that allows you to specify that the "Install updates and restart" option is not visible? Or is there another solution for this?478Views0likes0CommentsLaptops using both LAN and WIFI
Hi everyone, We deployed WCM policies to favor ethernet over Wi-Fi and to use soft disconnect to make the transfer more fluent. Our laptops are connecting to ethernet via a USB replicator (some using USB-C and others with HP 3005 models.). Has anyone encountered a situation where even after this deployment, the laptops still use both network adapters (Answering to ping on both LAN and Wi-Fi)? Thanks in advance, Rahamim.531Views0likes0CommentsIntune not removing apps on W11
We've got app profiles set up in Intune to remove the unwanted preinstalled junk on Windows - News app, Mail app, XBox, etc. On Windows 10 these did (and still do) work fine. However, on Windows 11 there are problems and some apps simply don't uninstall - the device gives a warning notification that uninstall failed, and Intune also reports this. After extensive back and forward discussions with Intune support it appears that the excuse is that because these aren't apps which were installed with Intune (i.e. they are part of the Windows installation) they cannot guarantee that they will uninstall. This is frankly a ridiculous excuse - they are Microsoft store apps so an uninstall rule on them in Intune should remove them. Doesn't always seem to be the same apps, but the News one is always involved. Microsoft suggests using Powershell - I've not got round to trying this yet, but before I waste yet more time on trying to circumvent problems which shouldn't exist, has anyone found a way to get the News app to reliably uninstall from W11 using an Intune app policy?
