I know many collaboration tools, I am into this stuff since 2010.
The most important issue of planner at the moment is the comment field functionality.
The sense of a collaboration tool is to avoid e-mail and bring people together to one board. And distribute informations correctly to the right place, so that everybody has an overview without searching.
One way to realize this is to focus task communication to tasks in a thread format.
Currently I don't see inside teams at the bell that there is a new comment to a task. I have to look at my e-mails. And I can't upload attachments to a comment.
If you working with tools like click up etc. planner feels like walking with one leg 😉
I know, in the premium version the comment functions changes to the "teams chat look." Maybe this is soon possible for the standard planner version.
