Planner Constraints in GCC frustrating (e.g., inability to convert basic plans to premium plans)
We have a GCC client that is growing frustrated by the constraints they continue to encounter with their Planner and Project Plan 3 licensing. Converting basic plans into premium plans isn't available for customers working from a GCC environment Task history is currently not available for customers in GCC There are limited GCC/Planner items found in the roadmap. Can anyone direct me to any sort of update or forecast on functions such as these withing GCC?30Views0likes0CommentsMicrosoft Planner @Mention and Comment Notification in Microsoft Teams - NEW VERSION
Hi Planner Community, Thank you for the overwhelming support for my original post last year on how to @mention someone within the Microsoft Planner community and have a message automatically emailed to them. I'm excited to share that I've completely redesigned and updated the solution to now support the new Microsoft Teams Planner and remove the issues some users found with setting up the solution. Additionally, the notification is now an adaptive card within the Microsoft Teams chat to the user you @mentioned in the Microsoft Planner comment. Screenshot example above shows a comment posted by me in a Microsoft Planner task where I’ve @mentioned David at the end of the message. Screenshot example above shows the comment posted by me in Planner being automatically sent to David (thanks to the @mention in the comment) on Microsoft Teams. Allowing David to reply in either the traditional Planner or new Teams Planner. Attached is a zip file containing the Microsoft Power Automate solution, along with a detailed walkthrough to help you set it up. Enjoy! If you download the solution, all I ask is that you please give this post a thumbs up. Thanks, everyone! Matthew Davis No More Bad Monday1.6KViews2likes13CommentsIs Planner in Beta testing?
Hi all I've been using Planner for a few weeks, and the KANBAN style 'Board' is FANTASTIC for a particular part of our work, that involves managing complex work packets through our process. I've also browsed this forum a few times, and we have access to the premium Planner version, but I've found the basic has features that premium doesn't. I'm evaluating Planner for use in our dept and organisation, and I'm not sure how stable it will be if we commit to using it right now. The posts on this forum show that features come and go, and reliability is not always good. I'm realistic and dont expect it to be perfect, but there is a minimum level required for us to commit and rely on it. What should people expect over the next few mths and yrs? I've read that there is a "Roadmap", but is that also something that could be scrapped/re-written? What is the level of Microsoft's commitment to Planner, and that "Roadmap"? We want to use it for full project Gantts, not just the KANBAN style 'Board' I mentioned above. But it seems that "Project Online" and the desktop MS Project, are the only way right now for a reliable system for managing multiple projects that have fairly substantial Gantts? Even though Planner is not a new thing, its appears to not have moved far down the development path? Kind regards12Views0likes0CommentsPremium templates suddenly unavailable
Hi all We have purchased a p1 license (first premium tier) some months ago. Recently, I needed to create a new Planner for a new project. I've noticed that all the premium templates are gone, so i can only use basic ones. The only premium option is the empty template. Is anyone experiencing the same issue? And how did you manage to solve this issue? Thanks in advance!18Views1like1CommentBoost Your Microsoft Planner with Dynamic Labels
If you’re using Microsoft Planner, you already know how useful labels can be for organising tasks. But what if those labels could do more than just colour-code your tasks? We've created an innovative solution that turns Microsoft Planner’s static labels into dynamic ones. With our Dynamic Labels solution, you can automatically assign the right team members to tasks based on the label colour. For example: Pink for Marketing? Automatically assigns your marketing team to the task. Grey for Finance? Your Finance team is instantly added. This streamlined process eliminates manual task assignments, making things more efficient and saving you time. Plus, the solution is easy to install. How to Get Started: Download the solution for free. Follow the included step-by-step guide to install. Customise to suit your needs and start automating task assignments. Any questions let me know! Since late last week, Planner has become increasingly unusable. Buckets are being dragged out of position when right-clicking in an empty space to scroll left or right. Today, performance has deteriorated even further—opening a card now takes around 30 seconds or more, and adding comments is nearly impossible due to severe lag. This issue is affecting everyone in our organisation. Does anyone know if Microsoft is actively working on a fix for these problems?304Views4likes4CommentsOrganisation Executive view of project plans and progress
Within my organisation, we have up to 20+ projects in various stages of their lifecycle going at any one time. Each project has activities relevant to specific departments within the organisation and each department has many team members that will be assigned tasks across multiple projects. Each department exists as a 'team' within teams. Each department manager is responsible for assigning the work for their staff and meeting KPIs but not every staff member is involved in every project. Basically, each department has their own project/planner relevant to their specific work activity which they assign out to their staff, but no single department owns the entire project (they are responsible for components of the project). I need an organisation view of all ongoing projects, and the ability to see the task activity (i.e. workload and deadlines) for each department relevant to each project and the entire organisation. Can planner be set up so that detailed plans can exist within overarching project plans? Or can plans in planner be set up such that tasks with the plan can be assigned to a bucket and buckets within the plan assigned to teams (i.e. departments rather than assigned to individual users) where the department manager can assign the tasks to their staff. The objective of this approach is to have staff allocated tasks through planner (ToDo) and the completion of their individual task feed back into the departments overall assigned activities, and ultimately back up to the project, and overall executive summary of all organisation projects.71Views1like3CommentsCan't access portfolios solution
We have Planner and project P3. When we try to access My Portfolios from Planner in Teams we get a message that says "Looks like you don't have the latest portfolios solution installed Contact your admin to fix this" I am an admin, but I can't find any way to update portfolios to the latest version. Has anyone been able to access the portfolios feature? If so, how did you get it to work? Thanks, Doug1.4KViews8likes19CommentsLink to newly created task no longer available during copy task...
When copying task in Microsoft Planner, why does the copy task confirmation no longer include a link to the newly created task anymore? Having a link to the newly created task allowed users to easily open the new task to make edits. This was extremely helpful when a templated task is used and copied to create task.12Views0likes0CommentsColumn keeps moving
Starting yesterday everyone on my team was clicking and holding a blank area on the board under a card to scroll left and right. When they did that the columns would start moving and then then move to the last column on the board automatically when they let go of the click Needless the say the columns are being rearranged every minute so we need help fast. What is going on????????????842Views18likes34CommentsAbility to send an email to Planner and create a Task
Is this on the roadmap? Our organization is starting to lose the battle of using Planner instead of Trello, pretty much because of the sole feature that Trello allows you to send an email to a specific email address and it will automatically create a Task. It is quite a simple model: Email Subject = Task Title Email Body = Task Description Email Attachments = Task Attachments This would be a massive win for adoption. Looks like this is the entry with the most votes, but there are about 100 of them that individually are asking for the same/similar functionality: https://planner.uservoice.com/forums/330525-microsoft-planner-feedback-forum/suggestions/13076007-ability-to-add-email-as-planner-task218KViews69likes36CommentsDoes anyone know when New Planner will be on GCC High?
The roadmap unfortunately doesn't have the GCC High release in it. People rather desperately want the personal plan feature and task dependencies, and it would be great to give them an approximate date to expect all of it.26Views0likes0CommentsWhere is Planner Hub, Calendar View, Connect to Outlook
What am I missing here? It seems that Planner no longer has a way to view multiple plans and tasks in a calendar. Previously you were able to plan days and the week by seeing multiple projects at one time. It also appears that there is no way to connect Planner to Outlook any more. What??? Seriously?? What is Microsoft thinking here? Just when things were literally starting to actually work together they roll back integration. Dear Microsoft: Integration is key for your ecosystem. I need to be able to use Planner to Plan. I need plans to show up in Todo and I need plans to show up in Outlook. I need them to look similar and have cross functionality. I need Teams to be integrated with all the other apps as well. MS Loop is promising but the lack of integration is astonishing. I can't even get it to show up in Teams. Great that I can add Planner to MS Loop but I can't add Loop to Teams (???). What about Onenote being able to add to Loop. I take hand written notes in Onenote. I can easily add my Onenote Notebook to Teams but I can't add to MS Loop???? Adding MS Loop to Onenote, I guess has some value - maybe, but the value is to be able to see my notebook INSIDE Loop without having to open up OneNote. Each app you created works and has specific functions but the integration needs to allow for seamless workflow instead of jumping around all over the place. I want to sit in planner to plan. But if I am in MS Loop and I am making notes from a meeting I want to be able to just access Planner within MS Loop (which I can and is great). But what if I have an email from a client that has a task within. Sure I can add it to ToDo..but you know what, now I have to do multiple steps to get into Plannner. Integration, integration, integration. Your ecosystem needs to work with high level cross functionality. And stop taking features away that are highly useable and improves workflow. Now I can't share Plans to my outlook???? seriously???? C'mon. This is why people leave your ecosystem. I have read in the forums that people are leaving to go Clickup because they focus on workflow. Personally, I think MS365 has promise and would prefer to stay here but you gotta listen to your customers on how they work and allow for workflows to happen and to customize to people's needs. But we can't work successfully if your products don't really talk to each other well. Your sole mission needs to be unrelentingly to help your customers work effeciently. If you can make me successful I will stay. It is the main reason people go to your competitors. Anything that can make work easier, more efficient, and allows us, YOUR customers, to be more successful will give your customers to stay in your ecosystem.411Views8likes8CommentsAuto Numbering
I'm looking for a way to automatically assign unique identifiers to tasks in Planner, complete with customizable prefixes or suffixes. This would help integrate tasks with other systems by providing a consistent numbering scheme. Is there any built-in functionality or a recommended workaround to set up such an autonumbering system?14Views1like0CommentsNeed more labels
We use labels extensively and we are running out. When will Microsoft add more to the 25?7.1KViews4likes11CommentsPortfolio Delays and click throughs
I've now 4 portfolios for different workstreams - Its kind of neat how rows that don't overlap in planner projects stack up. But there is an unknown delay between planner plan information becoming available in portfolios - it seems to be a bit less than a day from what i can see. But that is too long when you are updating plans. Also the jumping back out from portfolios to plans is arduous, a simple link would help.17Views0likes0CommentsNew Planner stuck in dark mode and can't change per-plan backgrounds
Was changed to the new Planner today. I can't figure out how to get it back to light mode. Used to be able to change it in the webapp, but I can't see a feature for it. Also, each plan used to have its own background. That feature seems to have disappeared as well.3.7KViews1like20CommentsMS Planner Plan - Add Admin
How can we add an admin to an existing Planner, lets say in a situation where the only owner is unavailable to add others for some reason. As a SharePoint, Teams , and Exchange Admin, we tried adding a user (same service account who is SPO, EXO, Teams admin) but when we open planner web https://planner.cloud.microsoft/ this Plan isn't listed. We only want to delete this plan and not the related Team or M365 group. Is this a limitation and there is no way an admin can add other users to a Plan? Tried querying the plan via power shell and Graph Explorer but receiving unauthorised error even being an owner of the M365 group and Team that has this plan.24Views0likes0Comments
