It feels like they handed off the planner product to another team (perhaps offshore) and had them rewrite it in another programming language and the new team left out a number of key capabilities.   Or perhaps they used AI and the AI decided it didn't need different backgrounds.  Bottom line is they need someone that actually does project management in real life to design the product vs. someone reading from a list of features.
