As part of our ongoing commitment to provide people with skills for in-demand jobs, I’m pleased to share that our new sustainability skills training is now available. The new learning pathway will help learners harness the power of technology to foster sustainable change. Upon completion of the course, learners will earn a Career Essentials Certificate in Sustainability Skills by Microsoft and LinkedIn. The new pathway will enable learners to: Explore foundational sustainability concepts Discover opportunities for sustainable innovation Learn how technology can be leveraged for sustainability Identify sustainable solutions using Microsoft Cloud This new pathway will be available until 2025 by signing into LinkedIn with a free account. *Available in English only, new languages will be available in February 2024Microsoft Cybersecurity Certification Scholarship Awarded by Women in Cloud
In honor of Women’s History Month, we recently launched the Microsoft Cybersecurity Certification Scholarship, awarded by Women in Cloud. This scholarship equips women in the U.S. with access to industry recognized certifications, mentorship networks, and monthly job preparedness sessions. Microsoft has committed to training one million people with the AI skills needed to pursue a career in technology, readying them for the “AI economy”, one where 47% of business leaders are now considering AI over new hires. Clare Barclay, head of Microsoft UK, said that by 2025, the company will have supported one million people to gain the AI skills needed “to start, or move into, a career in technology.” There’s now a whole ecosystem of free AI training courses available online, with more and more people looking for ways to stand out from the crowd in the modern-day economy. AI is revolutionizing cybersecurity. As AI technology capabilities advance so to does the need for defense capabilities for organizations. Yet, beyond the algorithms and data models, there's an urgent need for human talent. In fact, more than 4 million cybersecurity jobs are available globally. There simply aren't enough people globally to fill the open cybersecurity jobs. Earlier this month, together with the OECD, Microsoft Philanthropies launched a capstone report on cybersecurity skills. This was a final report in a series of three reports examining the urgent demand for cybersecurity skills, this time focused on France, Poland and Germany. Microsoft Philanthropies GM of Digital Inclusion and Community Engagement, Naria Santa Lucia joined a conversation to discuss the report findings with Assistant Deputy General of the OECD, Stefano Scarpetta , head of Economy and Social Protection for the OECD, Despina Spanou from the European Communication and our NGO partners ReDI School of Digital Integration and Instytut Kościuszki to help fill the talent gap.
