Here's how to break it
Let's say a program aint doing ya much good, and is actually working against you. You try to uninstall it, but for some reason, you can't! Never fear, here's the solution. Find the program's EXE file. Open it in Notepad. Press Control + A to select all the text, and then press Backspace. This will destroy the EXE and render it unopenable. Press Control + S to save it. Check to make sure the EXE is for sure busted by attempting to open it (In File Explorer, double-click the EXE, or right-click and select "Open"). If it worked, it should say this: If it does, you're done! 👍 Has this helped you? I'm running into a problem where the Windows Update for Business options do not appear under Windows Update in the GPME. I just installed the Windows 11 24H2 ADMX files today on our Central Store but still don't see them. But according to this MS article, it should still be an option? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/update/waas-wufb-group-policyGrantZ550Jan 02, 2025Copper Contributor44Views0likes0CommentsLifecycle Management of Winget Package identifier
Can someone point me in the right direction for the answer to the question about the lifecycle management of Winget package identifiers? The question is whether an ID that was in use can ever be reused if the original package no longer exists, and whether it is theoretically possible that a completely different app would be installed on a system via an update function, in case a new app is registered with the same id?SamuelForsterDec 19, 2024Copper Contributor18Views0likes0CommentsConfiguring Windows 10 via GPO
Hello I’d like to configure my Windows 10 to have zero unannounced installations. That is it must ask user or admin, first, regardless of what it’s installing. Secondly I’d like to set the internet traffic in / out to zero bytes unless either initiated by user or admin or approved by user / admin. I’ve spent a few days looking at individual policies and got pretty close but I’ve had to reinstall now cause Microsoft Security would not load at all after setting the previous set of rules. If posted in wrong thread, please advise. Thank you for reading my help requestOrixGeoAug 13, 2024Copper Contributor275Views0likes0CommentsCredential Manager for Outlook :
I have an outlook email address and account. Recently there was some sort of muddle, due, apparently, to having tried to access it from a laptop which I seldom use. I received a message from Microsoft suggesting that I should change my password. That was done, and things worked ok until a new version of Thunderbird was installed. This refused to accept the new password, and will not connect with Outlook.com unless there is a new message. I need to find what passwords are stored in Windows Credentials Manager. Yes, there are 'help' pages which explain how to do it, but none of them seem to work.newmarch1225Aug 11, 2024Copper Contributor212Views0likes0CommentsLenovo Thinkpad keeps getting stuck in boot error
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad and recently it got stuck in a boot loop. After setting the Secure Boot option to "Enabled" my laptop worked fine, but every time I put it to sleep/hibernate mode it gets into the loop again. This is getting really annoying (because the Secure Boot option, for some reason doesn't work unless my battery drops to 0% and then I do the whole process again) and inconvenient. Is there a solution to this?PoojaN1575Jul 28, 2024Copper Contributor209Views0likes0CommentsMouse Driver
I have and Alienware R17 laptop running Win 10. I want to restore Win 10. The laptop does all the way to the final stages and then quits due to some unspecified error. When Win 10 restarts I get a message saying that some error occurred and that nothing was changed. Then the Win 10 reverses whatever changes it tried to make. Also, the mouse doesn't work because Win 10 keeps loading a problematic driver. I've tried to update the driver, uninstall the driver but I get the message that the latest driver is already installed. I'm wondering if I can solve the mouse driver error, then maybe I can restore Win 10 to its pristine state. I've already ran anti-virus scans. I'm at my wit end. Please tell me that there is a solution. Thanks, in advance.ClayblayJul 02, 2024Copper Contributor196Views0likes0CommentsQ-B Windows 10 Onedrive 2 PC Sync?
Q-B Desktop Enterprise 2024 Manufacturering and wholesale. I have 2 PC, 2 workers. Company file located in Onedrive folder, synced to both PC. Can both PC have the same company file open, and being edited simultaneously, through Onedrive? Is Q-B setup to do that? Is that safe? Should 2 PC edit a file in Onedrive at the same time? Q-B has a "Multi-User Mode" that I have successfully used, when the file was located offline, on our network, but now I am asking if I can do that with Onedrive instead. Do Q-B users do that, is that normal? I have no interest in switching to Q-B Online version, I want to stay with Q-B Desktop Enterprise 2024 Manufacturering and wholesale. I am a novice with Q-B, please do not assume I know any settings, please explain step by step answer, thank you.User537843Jun 11, 2024Copper Contributor250Views0likes0Comments
