Folks, there has been an increase in spam post recently, can you please adjust the protection settings and start blocking repeated offenders? Here are some examples from today:

Jun 17, 2024Hi EricStarker
I would ask for your opinion on my new idea. A radical change can make posts marked as (suspected spamming) unhelpful to a spammer. In addition, they will be visible to other users as untrustworthy, which will allow them to be verified more quickly. Marking every post as spam is time-consuming, especially when other posts by a given user also do not comply with the rules (spam).

I think the problem here is that doing so would require justification and if we have justification to believe someone is probably a spammer than we probably have enough to take other actions to limit their engagement on the community.
When a post is marked as spam through an abuse report, for example, given enough reports it will be hidden until we review it. Clearly if it did this on the first report that system would be open to abuse. Users who's posts are marked as spam in this way will ultimately fine their ability post directly is restricted until a member of our team can review it.

Just add an additional button (mark all posts of this user as spam).
Of course, the powers in this area would be limited – > so abuse would be practically impossible,
You can hide the profile designation ( suspicion of spam sharing ) This would be visible only to authorized users

Deleted So we already have this button, its limited to Community Managers, which is probably the right place for such a button.
In terms of the 'suspected of spam' designation, when would you expect a user to have 'earned' that? What would they have to have done be suspected of spam?

Deleted While I understand and respect that you've contributed an idea to the community, those ideas are best reviewed by other users to gauge their popularity and then our team can decide whether to implement an idea based on popularity and feasibility.
No need to tag me individually, I promise you our team is aware of everything posted in the Community Lounge and we review these threads regularly, but apologies if we aren't always able to respond individually.

In this situation, the awareness of the procedures of other MTC members is likely to be limited, which makes voting on this issue useless.
Thank you!
I'll see you in a few months. 🙂

Typically speaking, crowd sourced abuse reports are actually pretty accurate. There is no need to understand how others have flagged a post. By using this system we also make it harder for anyone to try to report abuse with malicious intent.
