MS Edge - Sidebar and copilot not working on Linux Ubuntu v24 LTS
Sidebar not syncing or accepting new app additions (+). Copilot button is dead/inactive. Sidebar settings are well configured. Using the latest version of the Ubuntu OS and MS Edge. Functionality appears to be absent as product was released without full functionality....Lame!
- wpereira_wowCopper ContributorFor anyone who need later versions of edge you can get it from the source link when installing on the terminal
https://packages.microsoft.com/repos/edge/pool/main/m/microsoft-edge-stable/- digcboyCopper ContributorFinally. Installed a fresh version of Windows with a PE disk and got the file.
Now working fine!- Thomas_ConnollyCopper Contributor
But I'm using Ubuntu, not Windows. digcboy
- Zazo58Copper ContributorRestore Missing Files:
If you have an older backup of your system, locate the HubApps file from your backup.
Copy the HubApps file from your backup to the Default folder inside the microsoft-edge directory. - digcboyCopper Contributor
Same on Arch Linux with unofficial version extracted from RPM package.
- Zazo58Copper ContributorHello. I was able to solve the problem here at Manjaro KDE. There is a file that looks like a program called "HubApps" that is not in the Home configuration area. In the Home area there are the configuration files, which is hidden, and with CTRL+H it appears as ".config". Inside it there is a directory called "microsoft-edge" and another "Default". It is in this place that the Program Archive is missing. I got it on my laptop that Edge is working. You have to have an older backup of your system to get it. My English and that of the Google translator, I'm sorry for the mistakes. I hope I have helped.

Thanks, you helped a lot, just like the other commenters, because if we ask Microsoft, they probably won’t reply. :D Cheers!

This worked beautifully! I happened to have a backup from a previous installation of Ubuntu. I copied over the file located in the .config/microsoft-edge/Default folder named HubApps to my new installation of Ubuntu in the same folder which mysteriously was missing that file. I closed Edge, reopened it, and voila! It works! Thank you!

Zazo58 You are 100% correct. The install is missing the HubApps file. I pulled it from another computer running windows and that fixed it. I can use Drop again. I broke out the instructions below.
- Get a HubApps file from another install of Edge that is working.
- In Windows it can be found in C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User_Data\Default
Show Hidden Files:
Open your file manager.
Press CTRL+H to show hidden files and directories.
Navigate to Configuration Files:
Go to your Home directory.
Open the .config folder.
Locate Edge Configuration:
Inside .config, find and open the microsoft-edge folder.
Look for the Default subfolder within microsoft-edge.
Restore Missing Files:
If you have an older backup of your system, locate the HubApps file from your backup.
Copy the HubApps file from your backup to the Default folder inside the microsoft-edge directory.
