Cannot hide gallery in "focus on content" or "full screen" mode
Hi There,
Previously, when I selected "focus on content" on Teams, the gallery would be hidden. Recently, I reinstalled my laptop and found out that after "focus on content" is select, all the other attendants face would be hidden, but not mine. The following picture shows the screenshot of the Teams.
This phenomenon also happens when I use "Full Screen".
Someone knows how to solved it?
Thanks in advance

- AnqB0VVRJMzsO6zVIron Contributornow I can hide gallery, but the tool bar is still there
is there a way to hide toolbar like what is working in browser? the browser has the really thing I want: nothing but view of shared screen
I can't say "full screen" or "focus on" mode has toolbar is wrong, but that sounds like a idiot as we have the theory "pin/unpin" for almost all the windows since windows 95- Kelemvor333Steel Contributor
6 Months later and this is still broken? In a meeting right now and a huge portion of the screen is used showing me the profile pictures of the people in the meeting. I can't click Focus on Content. Well, I can click it but it just flickers and goes right back to showing the gallery.
Come on MS. Fix the stuff you broke please.

Kelemvor333 A quick tip, if you press "Ctrl-Minus" while in content-sharing mode, it will zoom in on the content portion and zoom out the gallery. This has helped me get around the issue for now. "Ctrl-Plus" a few times to get back to normal.
Hope this helps until MS gets this fixed.
- AfolksCopper ContributorI also have the latest version and it is still not fixed.
- SmeagolCopper ContributorSame here, and it is very annoying, especially when someone is sharing a screen with me it gets down-scaled.
This must have came with an update within the last two or so months, because it was not like this before. - jomigoCopper Contributor
Agree with all these comments. This is a huge step backwards, especially on a 13" or 15" laptop when someone else is sharing the screen and 1/5th of your screen is wasted with black space (right side primarily, but also the top and the bottom).
To me "Full Screen" means full screen. Period.
Similarly with "Focus on Content" - that should actually focus on the content with a very minimalist menu and personal avatars/faces.
Why can't there just be a full screen with hover menu (i.e. you move your mouse toward the top of the screen and the menu and buttons appear). Every video player on the planet does this. It does not need to be re-invented because it is a perfect solution. Unlike wasted black space......
Please fix.
Thanks.

I have the same problem from few weeks. I reported the matter using the feedback feature built into teams... I was contacted by someone from microsoft and after providing all the information, what I was told is that, that is the expected way for the app to work.
This is very annoying and reduces user productivity. Full screen should be Full screen without bells and whistles.
The previous version was working well with Full screen and Focus on content features. They made is only worse over time, which is unacceptable.
Laptop users have hard time viewing the shared content. They should fix it as top priority !!
Other helpless users like me, there are two options...
1) as mentioned by some users, use Ctrl + scroll button to zoom in/out.
2) use the teams.microsoft.com web version. As of recent, full screen mode is working fine in web browser (as it worked before the updates).. hope they don't spoil that one too...
MSFT please wake up to hear these user experiences... Thank You !!!
- LouCastaldoCopper ContributorThis is very frustrating but I found something that might help with this until MS fixes the issue. If you use CTRL "-" you can shrink the frame around the content/shared area and get more space for it. You can then un-pinch/pinch and zoom in and out of the content area on the touch pad. This has worked pretty well for me without having to ask the presenter to adjust their side. Hope this helps some of you for now.
- Mr_RadarBrass ContributorHold "CTRL" and wheel up or down would be easier.
- LouCastaldoCopper ContributorYes, agree, if you use a mouse.

Just attended a meeting this morning and it seems to be working again?!
When others are sharing, selecting "Focus on content" goes full screen with my avatar shrunken and floating in the bottom corner.
Things I've done recently:
- Deleted the 'Teams' folder and essentially reset the app. NOTE: It didn't work straight after doing this.
- Used the online web version of Teams for the most recent meeting before todays meeting. Of course it worked as intended in the web version.
Today's meeting was the first one I've had since using the web version. In my mind I thought, "is it possible using the web version somehow fixed the app?". Although I doubt this is the case... unless the same works for others?
Just thought I'd share all this in case it helps narrow down the solution. 👍
- catbelnokCopper ContributorHello chridder can you please provide detailed information on the procedure you ran to "Delete the 'Teams' folder" and detail on the environment (windows10 version, MSteams version) ?
- chridderCopper Contributor
Follow this procedure to fully reset Teams: https://sysadmin-central.com/2021/04/28/how-to-clear-the-microsoft-teams-cache/
My versions:
MS Windows Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042
Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.35564 (64-bit).

Update: Fix is now rolling out to production.- dlivezeyBrass ContributorThe most recent regression appears to be fixed, as of v1.4.00.35564. Focus on Content once again fully occupies the *width* of the window/screen. Thank you for restoring the previous functionality - very much appreciated.
I would still prefer to return to the actual fullscreen mode that was lost when New Meeting Experience became the Only Meeting Experience some time ago. Previously, prior to NME, it was a true fullscreen display, with meeting controls only coming into view upon certain mouse movements. Now, the controls are fixed at the top of the screen, thus limiting the vertical space available to meeting content. The preferred approach (display meeting controls only upon certain mouse movements) would be similar to most video players. Is it at all possible that we'll get back to the Old Meeting Experience, or at least that "true fullscreen" aspect of it? Please? - joejettaCopper ContributorThis issue is a big pain. If you guys could also persist the selections we make (e.g. full screen mode, gallery, etc.) between users sharing their screens? We have meetings where multiple people share there screen during the process and every time we get someone else sharing their screen I have to hide the gallery again or set it to full screen. Supper annoying.

joejetta I agree completely. It used to be that whenever Microsoft had a new product, it was crap until they got to version 3 when they started to do usability studies and figured out what users really wanted the products to do. It would be nice if they could just skip ahead and fix these things now.
- Chilli7Brass ContributorDear Jan Šteberl,
I'm very happy that you found these posts and take it serious as I have sometimes the feeling that the end customer problems keep being unheard.
I want to emphasis the importance of a working full screen mode especially in times of home office. Currently we are left with either asking the presenter to zoom in so much that the overview is lost or to try hard to decipher what we actually see on the screen from 20cm distance.
Please make sure that full screen mode test is included in your validation tests. And if it was already included please investigate why the test was inefficient and improve it.
- AfolksCopper Contributor
Same here.
- JohnPenningtonCopper ContributorSame issue. When you have poor vision, this is a real problem. I really wish they'd do a full QA test before they pushed updates. Seems like they're constantly breaking things without warning.
