Hide bar at top of teams sharing
Hi all
When I share my screen in meetings it involves using a browser i.e. I`m presenting things using google chrome.
I get a bar asking me to change my screen size/settings etc on teams. It's frustrating because I have to click away or wait a moment. Is there a way to stop this from appearing??
thanks!
rayted22 I'm not aware of any way to disable it. It's generally needed is you end up giving control to other people.

LAST RESORT !!
If you have a Mac with Sequoia and the annoying "Sharing Content Banner" can't be moved or hidden with CMD+W and you have a multi display setup.
- Make sure you have configured the Mac to extend the display accordingly.
- When sharing the content share as a window on the laptop screen.
- Drag the shared content window to the external display so the annoying banner remains on the laptop screen that is not facing the audience.

This is not a solution.
In all my experience, I have never seen anyone use this meeting toolbar - not once. It seems to only cause confusion, as people don’t know how to hide it or what to do with it. Instead, they end up moving it around constantly because it often obstructs important information.I have attended hundreds of meetings, and not a single person has utilised this toolbar.
Could you please provide a way to permanently disable this toolbar, considering that literally NOBODY USES IT and only serves to CONFUSE USERS?
- joshardtCopper ContributorCan some Teams developer please add an option to disable that bar or a button to hide it immediately? This bar is so annoying. I got this issue on macOS. Hiding that bar seems almost impossible and switch tabs in Chrome while sharing the screen is a real pain. That bar is the most annoying feature in Teams.
- UncleAlIron ContributorThank you! I had no idea that the bar could be moved until I saw your comment.

Two ways to get rid of this:
1. Click on the annoying tool bar, then CTRL+W
2. Click ALT+TAB which brings up the window switcher and you can see all open windows. Close the screen sharing toolbar window from here.
To get the tool bar back stop sharing and then share again which resets the sharing session.
- KareemSarhanCopper ContributorI've discovered a neat trick for when you're sharing your screen on Teams and want to hide the control bar at the top. Simply click on an empty area of the control bar and press:
CTRL + W (for Windows)
CMD + W (for Mac) - chairmanm30wCopper Contributor
rayted22I'm on a Macbook and a colleague stumbled across a workaround for this.
- Click on the Sharing Bar
- Command + w
- Joy
Lucky we're not in the office anymore, or I would have kissed him.

This solution was already discovered 2 months & 2 pages ago (Late March 2024 & page 5) on this same thread by TheLocalizer, but thanks for repeating it for anyone coming to the last/current page

Here's a small script/tool to auto hide the control bar at the top - TeamsOverlayHider
Hope it helps someone. Cheers!

After using CTRL+W to hide it (awesome!), how do you get it back?? Please?

rayted22It´s on Microsoft 365 roadmap!
Microsoft Teams: Draggable Presenter Toolbar while screensharing: Introducing the ability for presenters to freely drag Presenter Toolbar appearing on top of screen while screensharing.

- TomHawkinsCopper ContributorI'd be quite happy with the same bar behaviour IF I could opt to move it to the left/right of my screen, I'm aware that might be possible for the browser tabs it covers but those are the ones I'd like to keep at the top. This affects me most days of my life!
