Scheduling Meetings in Private Channels
Hi,
Can anyone confirm this this works, or indeed doesn't? I can't seem to schedule meetings into Private Channels, but can't find if this should actually work.
Thanks,
- Hi sp-jmglade
Currently, you can't schedule meetings in private channels.
As stated in the article
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/MicrosoftTeams/private-channels
We're continually adding capabilities to private channels so check back for the most up-to-date information regarding apps, channel meetings, and scaling private channels for large teams
You can however do meet now's in private channels
Hope that answers your question!

Microsoft, please get this done ASAP.
It is a no brainer feature that needs immediate implementation.
Clear value for work and school teams and likely for others.
- CraigcarlsonCopper ContributorAnother vote for this feature. Also you can't add planner to private channels. Why all doesn't private channels have the same functionality of public channels??

You can right click the private channel and choose "Get email address". the email address of your private channel will appear and click Copy button. After that, go to teams calendar in the right side of the app and schedule meeting as usual, and paste the email address into the "required attendees" field. After sending, this meeting will now appear in that private channel's posts, in your teams calendar and in your outlook calendar. I hope this helps. 🙂

ChinCharmin thank you, it works. However, the team members in the private channel can't find the meeting in their teams calendar.

This is absolutely needed... such a key feature to be able to separate your team into smaller pieces and schedule meetings directly with them... please make this change soon!...

sp-jmgladeEssentially, we're asking for meetings for sub-teams of the main team. If only we could define sub-teams, we could then have channels on those.

the uservoice is here sp-jmglade
I really can't understand why this isn't a thing. It's a very basic feature that should be available.
Please MS can you get this rolled out ASAP.
Cheers

Private Channels in Teams is indeed a cool feature, especially for effective collaboration of higher management and strategic groups working on sensitive information and data.
It is, however, sad to see a very basic yet important feature like meeting setup missing. It's been more than couple of years since first concern was raised, but I see the issue hasn't progressed much. I tried to cast my vote in uservoice, but seems the link no more exists.
I would greatly appreciated if this feature is ranked top of the backlog and its implementation expedited.
Will be hopefully watching this thread for the good news! 🙂
Thanks!
- Thomas_HZCopper ContributorCould not agree more. The feature is very important and has been requested for a long time, it would be great to see it live soon! Any new updates on whether it's coming up or not would also be appreciated.

dizlet Also, Teams released Breakrooms in Preview. But they only added it for private meetings. This makes it harder to use with a class that are part of a channel.

+1 for me. I really need this feature.

sp-jmglade This video contains a work around for scheduling meetings in private channels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWfb5eHeo_Q

thisismikekane_neu thanks works really well
- Second this - I only got round to seeing this as I am clearing out the mailbox from old TC notifications. I have been using this the last few weeks. It's also a great solution for an emergency action when Live Events fail too. Always good to keep this one in the pocket 😄

ChrisHoardMVP This would be really useful for our organisation. I look forward to getting functionality.

ChrisHoardMVP Has this matter been resolved? I would love to be able to schedule meetings in private channels or be able to invite the channel members to a meeting. It seems the ability to add a private channel to a new meeting doesn't work either.

I see a new option in the Preview Teams client mentionning we can "schedule a meeting".
Currently that is grey and we can see a "Your admin hasn't enabled this feature".
Because I am the Admin for Teams, my users ask me to unlock this option...I have check the Microsoft Roadmap and I don't see anyhting regarding meeting in private channel.
Do you know more?
- DaveyleeCopper ContributorHi ChrisHoardMVP,
How is it that it is now October 2022 and we are still unable to schedule meetings on a Team's private channel ?
Considering the number of replies, one would think that you'd make this a priority.
Kind regards,
David- Benoit_BataillerCopper ContributorI have the same problem.
Trying to organize teams, this would really help!
