Teams call controls on jabra headset not working
Hi,
I recently bought a new Jabra Evolve 75 headset to replace my old wired plantronics set. I purchased the Microsoft version of the headset, which is supposed to have better integration with Microsoft products such as Teams. It's a great product, but while i can change volume and mute calls using the headset controls, I can't accept or close a call, which is annoying. I've been in touch with Jabra support for last few days and reviewed all settings, but they have concluded it's nothing to do with the headset (as it works fine on my softphone client), and must be a Microsoft problem.
Do you have any suggestions to sort this problem or is it a case of waiting and hoping for a new software update that will resolve the issue at some point in the future?
Cheers
I found a solution for my Jabra Speak 510 where the controls and LEDs did not work for teams on USB - Bluetooth worked.
Change the Driver to "Jabra SPEAK 510 (Sound Research)" to "Jabra SPEAK 510 USB (Sound Research)" by selecting available drivers.
No everything is fine again. Seems to be that Windows selected the wrong driver after updating to 20H2...

My headset issue: "Not able to answer or hang up calls from the headset" turns out is a
MS issue, "We don't support hardware even if it's MS certified". Jabra says it's a Microsoft issue. so Teams and Softphones will not work after an update of MS O365 and some other updates. "Island Mode" seems to be an issue. It will take someone to write some code to fix it. It's not the first time we have had to hack MS to make daily functions work again after an untested update or 20 (Xerox printers ETC.Jabra and MS are lacking in their customer support. they both just point fingers at the other and do nothing.I read the forums big companies that invested 100's of thousands of dollars are returning all their new equipment. The State Chancellors office will hear about this for all of our educational work at home Staff and faculty, Answering and hanging up from the professional headset are a necessity. I can use low cost Bluetooth ear pods for talking on calls. We may have to return all of ours as well. I'm just more sad during COVID that I am tethered to a terminal unnecessarily to press a button. - ChrisDoddsCopper Contributor
Any further on this I have the jabra evolve2 65 and the teams button just clicks in my ear.
teams version 1.4.00.2879 (64-bit)
jabra direct latest

So far, my evolve2 MS 65 is working properly for a few months now. I used to have issues as well, before that.
I have Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.2879 (64-bit) and Jabra evolve2 65 version 2.4.5 and Jabra link 380 version 1.9.1- ChrisDoddsCopper Contributor
WouterVoet Hi, mine just randomly started working so assume a win update or something the company have had issues with updates so working for now as expected

***FIX***
owler_77 Evolve 75 MS comes with a USB dongle. Do not connect via bluetooth to your laptop/tablet. If you have paired via Bluetooth, remove device. Use the dongle(only) and the buttons will work.
Press the button on the right ear to open Teams and to join/end calls.
No issues with the mobile phone and Teams mobile app. Headphone buttons work.

Hey Guys, I have been experiencing the same issue (Jabra Evolve 75 MS) and after some tinkering I managed to get it working again.
The solution suprisingly came out of the most minimalistic set up: uninstalled Jabra Direct, disconnected the Link 370, & then connected the headset directly to the computer's bluetooth, after restarting teams it then recognised the headset as: "Headset (Jabra Evolve 75 Hands-Free AG Audio)" instead of "Headphones (Jabra Evolve 75 Stereo)" which basically means every button is working as it should again!
The only "drawback" (which it's not for me really) is that when connecting the headphones now says: "Connected to Smartphones" instead of "PC"

I would like to share my experience to all Jabra users.
Recent Jabra and Team update seem to fix the mute and unmute using physical button on Jabra. Before the mute/unmute would stop working after few times muting/unmuting.
Also I found that Jabra dongle Link 370 does not work with USB3 ports. You can hear the audio and microphone works, but cannot mute/unmute Team from the headset. You dont get audible / voice guidance when clicking the mute button on team as well.
So I moved it back to USB2 port and it works perfectly again.

It seems lots of people are still having problems with Jabra and MS Teams.
I used to have problems but not anymore. The hardware mute button works even I mute so many times every second.
Here is what I have:
Jabra Elite 65e (Firmware 2.23.0)
Jabra Link 370 (Firmware 1.82.0)
Jabra Direct 4.0.8560
Windows 10 Pro
Microsoft Teams version 1.3.00.26064 (64 bit)
None default settings:
- On the Jabra Direct, I have configured preferred softphone: Microsoft Teams (under Settings).
- On MS Teams: I enabled "Register Teams as the chat app for Office (requires restarting Office applications)"
Note: Jabra Link 370 only works on USB 2 port (Physical Mute does not work on USB3)

Breakfast_at_McD The Hardware mute button wasn't the primary issue. That's worked all along for me. Its the pick up and hangup of calls and ending of calls that stopped working.

I have 1.3.00.26064 and the previous version before that.
The headset hangup and pickup worked fine until about 3 weeks ago and then the button stopped working.
Headset - Jabra 930 Pro USB or a Jabra 510 Speaker Phone
--- FIRMWARE and Jabra direct SW are all up to date
--- happens on both devices the same
What happens:
- start a conference call in teams
-- Mute - works fine
-- Hangup or Hold - does not work
- answer a direct phone call
-- answer the call - works fine
-- hang up the call - works fine
-- mute/unmute - works fine
This is happening to many of my work colleagues and this needs to be fixed. I just updated to the 26064 version hoping it would fix the problem but it has not changed anything.
- JoeKWerkCopper ContributorI am seeing the exact same thing on my Jabra Pro 9470 in the same time frame.... tis really frustrating.
- Pags319Copper ContributorWe have the following setup
Jabra engage 75 mono (latest fw)
Teams desktop app (latest fw)
Problems:
Call pickup / control not working for teams calls
Ringtone on base station only works for about 5 percent of the users.
Jabra support points to microsoft and the other way.
Pernille-Eskebo and @jabra the way it is currently the endusers will not get happy with your solution. This issue is now pending since months.
Is there any update on this?
Thanks - KaiCCopper ContributorHaving the same issue. It's confusing other participants on the call.

This is really strange!
I have this with two Teams users on the SAME PC with SAME logged in user and same Teams app version.
When "user 1" is logged in Teams call controls works fine on a Jabra Engage 75 headset. When I log "user 1" out of Teams and switch to "user 2" NO call control works!
What in the users Teams profile can do the change?? Same politics and both in "Teams Only" mode!
This is really strange.....

Hi @Lars_Christensen1970, thanks for sharing this information. I was encountering the same issue, and this gave me a hint about what might be happening as well as a possible workaround.
After removing and re-installing the Jabra Direct software, the issue is resolved for me.
My theory is that having a second user log in to the Teams app causes a configuration issue with the Jabra software which is resolved by re-installing it. I may investigate further to see if I can identify the exact reason this occurs.
- Lars_Christensen1970Brass ContributorHi!
I my case I didn't have Jabra Direct installed. So I don't think that this is the root cause? But I will definitely try this!
btw. since I replied in this thread, the version of Teams app has changed from 1.3.00.21759
to 1.3.00.24755.
Could MS have done any changes in this matter in the update??

Lars_Christensen1970 I had the settings changed to Teams only but it does not work...

Same issue here:
Jabra Evolve2 65 MS firmware 2.4.5
Jabra 380 firmware 1.7.3
Teams (Version 1.3.00.21759 (64-bit)),
Latest Jabra Direct isntalled from websiteWindows versions 1909 and 2004
My Jabra is connected to the 380 and my iPhone (I tried it separately too, hell, I even tried if the Teams button has an effect on my iPhone). I have tried logging out of Teams, reinstalling Teams, reinstalling Jabra, starting and connecting Jabra before starting Teams. The Jabra direct software recognizes Teams and says it's "Ready". I have tried to use the new features of teams (separate windows for chat and calls) on and off. No change.
When hitting the dedicated Teams button, the light becomes red on the earcups, I can see the volume being adapted in Windows and IF there was currently music playing through the headphones, it goes to the background and sounds like a lower quality (but does not pause).
But it
- never brings Teams to the foreground (not when it is minimized to taskbar or notification area nor simply behind another window)
- responds to alerts (meeting started, calls (audio/video), etc...)I bought the MS version of this Jabra ESPECIALLY for the "integration". Seems like I made a mistake.
