Latest Onedrive IOS update removed direct video record - pls restore!
Hi,
A critical workflow for my business is recording videos and taking photos with iphone that upload directly into Onedrive via the IOS App. This feature seems to have been removed in the lastest ios app update. Please restore! And can anyone recommend a workaround?? Please help!
Some users have reported that the direct video recording feature was removed in the latest OneDrive iOS update. While Microsoft hasn’t officially announced plans to restore this feature, here are some workarounds to maintain your workflow:
Workarounds for Direct Video Uploads
- Use the iPhone Camera App with OneDrive Auto-Upload
- Enable Camera Upload in OneDrive:
- Open OneDrive App → Tap your profile picture → Settings → Camera Upload → Turn it ON.
- Workflow:
- Record videos/photos with the iPhone’s default Camera app.
- They will automatically sync to OneDrive when connected to Wi-Fi (or cellular if enabled).
- Shortcut Automation (iOS Shortcuts App)
Create an automation that uploads videos directly to OneDrive after recording: - Open Shortcuts App → Tap + → Add Action → Choose Record Video → Add another action: Save File → Select OneDrive.
- This mimics the previous feature with minimal extra steps.
- Third-Party Apps with OneDrive Integration
Some apps allow direct video recording and OneDrive uploads: - FileBrowser Professional or FE File Explorer
- Connect to your OneDrive account within the app, record videos, and save directly to your chosen folder.
- OneDrive Web App as a Temporary Fix
- Use OneDrive via Safari.
- Tap Upload → Take Photo or Video (this option is still available in the web interface).
Feedback to Microsoft
You can submit feedback directly to Microsoft within the OneDrive app:
- Go to OneDrive App → Settings → Help & Feedback → Send Feedback.
- Describe the impact on your workflow—user feedback helps prioritize updates.
The steps were processed using AI.

Hope this will help you.
