OneDrive and Windows File Explorer

Have a OneDrive structure with several levels of folders. There are several differant company names with the same file structure under each of them. I am sharing just certain folders with an individual but in File Explorer you cant see the names of the folders above the shared folder. On a MAC it shows the file structure from TOP to were the shared file is . Any suggestions?

    The behavior of OneDrive's shared folders in Windows File Explorer vs. macOS Finder is different.

    Here are some possible solution proposals: 

    1. Use Shortcuts in OneDrive (Recommended)

    • In OneDrive Online (Web), go to the shared folder.
    • Click "Add shortcut to My Files" (or "Add shortcut to OneDrive").
    • This will create a shortcut in your OneDrive root, which then syncs to Windows File Explorer.
    • This way, the folder appears within your OneDrive structure.

    Note: This method does not reveal the parent folders, but it makes navigation easier.

     2. Manually Create a Mirror Folder Structure (Workaround)

    If you want to see the company name and full folder hierarchy in Windows File Explorer:

    • Manually create the same folder structure inside your OneDrive.
    • Move the shared folder into this structure.
    • Reshare it from there.

    Drawback: This requires manual work and maintaining two folder structures.

     3. Access via OneDrive Web for Full Path Visibility

    • Unlike File Explorer, OneDrive's web interface (onedrive.com) does show the full path of shared folders.
    • This can be helpful if the individual needs to reference the company name.

     4. Use a Mac or a Virtual Machine

    • If the individual primarily works on Windows but has access to a Mac, they can navigate the shared folders properly in Finder.
    • Alternatively, they can use a macOS virtual machine.
