Rules in New Outlook
Was very interested in trying the new Outlook. But cannot live without rules and your instructions make NO SENSE
For Me this does not give me these options
I was really interested int testing the new version but I Guess I won't be
Hi Dmedvesek
Attach File: To see a list of files, type the / (slash) in the body of the email, and the most recent files will appear. This feature is available in both Outlook.com and MS365 apps.
Rules: More rules functionality is on the roadmap. As others have suggested, you can start with creating incoming message rules.
Encouragement: New Outlook does have many new and enhanced features. I have a dedicated New Outlook video playlist that may be helpful.

The rules for New Outlook are the settings. In the upper right of New Outlook, there is the gears icon. Click on that and then on the left is "Mail". Click on that and you can create server rules. I prefer that over local rules so it hits all my devices, computers, online, etc. Local rules in Outlook can get corrupted and as this is cloud rules, they should not corrupt. Give it a try and you might like it.

I just started recently with the New Outlook, and to my surprise the option to create rules has disappeared.
The solutions I get, like the one above is not available when I try it.
Click "Settings" , Select Mail > Rules is not available in the options list.
And this is also for a lot of other functionalities that where available in the classic Outlook like e.g. the Archive settings, ...
Microsoft: DO something about this.

"In Outlook (New). Only mailboxes with Microsoft domains like Outlook, Hotmail, live, msn can create rules. Other mailboxes with non-Microsoft domains cannot use rules."

This is really frustrating. The new Outlook has so many drawbacks compared to the old version, and I don’t understand why Microsoft doesn’t fix it. It becomes a significant issue if there are no rules. Another feature that’s missing in emails is the “attach file” option. In the old version, when I clicked on it, I would get a list of recently used files, but that’s gone now. I’m not sure if there’s an update available, but it’s really frustrating.
