Thanks for joining our AI for Nonprofits AMA! We appreciate your questions and feedback—and look forward to continuing the discussion in the Nonprofit Community!
- Kirstin1185Copper ContributorI work in policy and research, and am exploring the potential of AI for evidence assessments. I would greatly appreciate your insights on two specific challenges: 1. AI's Role in Expanding Systematic Literature Reviews: Traditional literature reviews are constrained by the volume of material a researcher can read and assess. It seems logical that AI could extend capabilities in this area but there are significant limitations related to data processing capacities in tools such as Co-pilot and ChatGPT, which appear to cap data uploads at rather low thresholds, meaning that they can’t currently be used to work with extensive bodies of literature. Are there ongoing developments to address these limitations and enhance AI's utility to read and digest large amounts of documents? 2. Decolonizing Research Through AI: The discourse around AI and the decolonization of information at the global leaders nonprofit summit has prompted me to consider how AI can be leveraged to access and include non-English literature in evidence assessments in order to diversify and enrich evidence bases beyond the predominately English-language literature. Such strategies could involve using AI for search term adaptation, article gathering, translation, and analysis which would go a long way in decolonising the research landscape. Are you aware of any tools or methodologies that could facilitate finding literature beyond what is readily accessible in English, possibly incorporating features similar to Microsoft Academic's Cross-Language Information Retrieval (CLIR) service?

These are great questions! While there isn't a clear set of tools to solve this challenge yet, Microsoft is working across many groups to build cross-language solutions. Inclusion and transparency are key responsible AI principles across Microsoft AI. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/ai/responsible-ai You may be interested in the work being done at Microsoft Research across responsible AI - see a recent roundup here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/blog/advancing-transparency-updates-on-responsible-ai-research/ The Microsoft Research team supports several projects to support inclusion of languages across research. As an example, the Microsoft Africa Research Institute (MARI) https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/group/microsoft-africa-research-institute-mari/overview/ addresses how to democratize AI at scale in Africa. Their recent publication on multi-lingual LLMs shares benchmarks and a framework for evaluating generative LLMs in a multilingual context: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/publication/mega-multilingual-evaluation-of-generative-ai/ Broader research across LLMs and languages is findable here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/research-area/human-language-technologies/?- Bonnie_ZinkCopper ContributorMS Co-Pilot arranged these resources into a table! | **Resource** | **Link** | **Notes** | |--------------|----------|-----------| | AI assessment | [AI Assessment Tool](https://aka.ms/AI-GNPLS) | Helps nonprofits determine their next AI actions. | | Charity Digital Skills Report | [Charity Digital Skills Report](https://charitydigitalskills.co.uk/) | A report on the digital skills and confidence of UK charities. | | Nonprofit Community | [Nonprofit Community](https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/nonprofit-community/ct-p/MicrosoftforNonprofits) | A platform to join the conversation and access resources on AI transformation for nonprofits. | | Digital Skills Hub | [Digital Skills Hub](https://aka.ms/digitalskillshub) | Links to free digital skills opportunities. | | Digital Skills Center | [Digital Skills Center](https://page.techsoup.org/digital-skills-center#resourcesection) | Offers free online courses on Microsoft products and services. | | CIVIC AI Observatory | [CIVIC AI Observatory](https://civicai.uk/about) | A handbook of useful resources on AI for the social sector. | | SCVO guide | [SCVO Guide on AI](https://scvo.scot/support/digital/guides/ai) | A guide for not-for-profits on AI. | | Living with AI | [Living with AI Course](https://www.scottishai.com/living-with-ai) | An entry-level AI course for the social sector. | Feel free to explore these resources to learn more about how AI can benefit nonprofits! 🌟
- swin66Copper ContributorWe're a small new UK charity but have a lot of information and resources which support our beneficiaries. As a former MS techy I trialled the Copilot Studio and found it would be really useful for us, but the price at £200pm is just so prohibitive. Will there be a non-profit discount for this as at the moment it's well out of reach. Apologies if this has been mentioned before but I haven't seen the main webinar yet

Hi Paul - Copilot Studio pricing for nonprofits is still evolving. I'd encourage you to start here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/nonprofits/offers-for-nonprofits?rtc=1 and apply for nonprofit offers to get the latest updates on availability and grants for Copilot Studio.- swin66Copper ContributorThanks. We are already take advantage of this, and have the Azure £2K grant. Will that be usable against the CoPilot Studio pricing?
- Siobhan2002Copper ContributorI'd love to know more about becoming certified in AI

Learn is always a great place to get started when exploring Microsoft certification. For example, here is a certification for AI Fundamentals. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/credentials/certifications/azure-ai-fundamentals/. However, there are lots of resources to learn and expand your knowledge in AI getting certificates and other ways to validate the skills you have gained. Many of the digital skills resources that have been shared are a great place to start to explore: https://aka.ms/digitalskillshub https://page.techsoup.org/digital-skills-center#resourcesection

- JackDuMezIron ContributorJust a quick question for understanding this conversation. What kinds of products will people be asking about -- Copilot for Microsoft 365 may be of interest for nonprofits. Will the discussion be covering other products or use-cases?
