Microsoft Edge Version 87.0.654.0 (Official build) dev (64-bit) (This could be a controlled feature rollout meaning only available to a subset of insiders) this is the new view you get when you click on favorites button on Edge toolbar and once you click on that Pin icon, the sidebar will show up I love this mechanism and implementation, very neat and smart! thanks also the favorites menu no longer closes when you open favorite sites in new tabs, something I know a lot of people asked for.21KViews8likes37CommentsWhy is Edge 87 Stable channel running experiments and Controlled Feature Rollouts !?
the element that is a controlled feature rollout is the new favorites experience on toolbar and sidebar in the Edge stable change log, there is no mention of this new feature at all, no word about favorites. the reason I can tell it's controlled feature rollout is because I can switch between old and new favorite experience by connecting to different VPNs and thus having different IP locations. something that I've read shouldn't be happening in Edge stable channel, since it's not insider. it's annoying to see this because the stable channel is no longer stable if a simple IP change can make features come and go.1.6KViews4likes5CommentsFound a bug in Edge 87 policy
So whenever I enable this policy This option in Edge which is related to secure DNS lookups, becomes unavailable and disabled I see no relation between the 2 options. in Edge policy I only have this which should only apply to this and not other settings. so In my perspective this is a bug/unwanted behavior. I'll report it using feedback button on Edge too. Edge Dev 87-88 Windows 10 20H2 if for any reason this is actually an expected behavior, please let me know with some explanation, thank you.Solved3KViews1like8CommentsWhats the point of downloading different policy files when they are applied to all channels of Edge?
I have Edge 86 stable and Edge 87 Dev installed on latest Windows 10. Downloaded policy files for Edge Dev 87 using configurations shown above, installed it, set a couple of policies from Windows group policy and then I see that they are being applied not only to Edge dev 87 but also to Edge stable 86! Why is this happening exactly? am I missing something that would let me target a specific Edge channel/version using group policy configurations? From my (non-Edge-developer) standpoint, when this website https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/business/download offers to download different group policy files for each version/channel, it's expected for those policies to only be applied to that specific Edge channel, not to every installed Edge instance.2.2KViews0likes5CommentsNeed explanation for this feature | Microsoft Defender SmartScreen Navigation Throttle
Microsoft Defender SmartScreen Navigation Throttle If enabled, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen will replace the current method of protecting against potentially harmful browser navigations. Mac, Windows #edge-smartscreen-nav-throttle The flag is in Edge Version 87.0.658.0 (Official build) dev (64-bit) I want to know what is the current method of Edge protecting against potentially harmful browser navigations, if not using Microsoft Defender SmartScreen? And also how is this possible on Mac that doesn't have Windows Defender? Lastly, is that flag connected to this option in Edge settings?Solved1.6KViews0likes2Comments
