I noticed in the newer versions of edge collections "Start to collect" - After searching I've found this to be a very bad addition to collections. Collections actually got me away from pocket but with this "Start to collect" I am wanting to go back to pocket. I submitted feedback but am hoping MSFT is reading these as Edge is a great browser - the collection option is great - especially when my favorites are full/unorganize I use collections for my "focus on" options.20KViews53likes102CommentsSet Aside Tab Feature | Collection Added to Edge insider Dev and Canary
Now you can Set your Tabs Aside Quickly and reopen them later. these tab groups Can get Synced with other devices that have Edge browser installed (Only desktops for now) so you can also resume your work from another computer. The tab groups that are set Aside are non-volatile, meaning they are not automatically deleted once you reopen them (unlike Edge legacy's behavior) you can give custom names to the tab groups you set Aside. Here is a 1080p 60FPS video to show you how easily it's done: https://streamable.com/uitriSolved19KViews14likes50CommentsEdge Collections: Feature request and bug/problem report
Sharing a collection only has 2 options and it's "Send to Excel or Word". it only uses the online Excel/Word regardless of whether or not the users has the Microsoft Excel/Word programs installed on their computers. Addressed Add an option to share collections to OneNote. Addressed add an option to let us Email a collection. Let the collections identify and detect the installed version of Word, Excel, OneNote and preferably use them instead of opening their online versions, which should be the last resort. Collections Don't work with websites that require the user to sign in before seeing the contents. collections only rely on publicly available contents. so for example when using a private group or page on Social media, when using WhatsApp for web, when using Telegram web, using online Forums and thousands more services that require user login, Collections are useless in these situations. the solution is instead of just adding a link of the contents to the collection, copy the actual content to the collection, this way even if the original content on the web gets taken down, deletes or becomes unavailable, the users can still access the saved contents on their collection. When adding/drag&dropping texts to a collection from a rather long page (such as an article in docs.microsoft.com), only the URL of the page where the text was copied from gets added to the collection, Not the exact location of the text. there is No text anchor attached to the text entries in collections. so if i add a paragraph from the middle of a page to my collection, then close that tab and click on the copied text in my collection, it will just reopen that page, it won't show me exactly where the text was copied from, just stays at top of the page. Addressed add a keyboard shortcut for opening the Collections panel. Addressed Add a search functionality for the Collections, either from the omnibox or a small search box from the collections panel. Feel free to add anything else. I installed Edge on my Android phone today because I'm using Collections in both my desktop and laptop, and wanted to add some links from my phone as well. I didn't find any way to see / edit Collections on Edge mobile, and I can't find any information about Collections being supported in the future either. Is there any information about that?7.9KViews6likes7CommentsCollections VS Workspaces | two different philosophies of saving tabs
Collections and Favorites (of all these tabs I want all of them) The idea of these is that you want to save a set of tabs outside the normal opening and closing of tabs so that they are sort of safe or protected from losing them. Collections differs from favorites in that the tabs are not so important individually and can be saved on mass. An important aspect is that tab saving is somewhat permanent, removing tabs has to be done manually. Workspaces and Tab Set Aside (of all these tabs I want at least one of them) The Idea of workspaces and tab set aside is that you cannot be bothered to know what tabs are important and which are not at the moment and want to "set them aside" for now. No tab is important enough to have a permanent safe place but at least one of them is probably important. Tabs can be added and (more importantly) removed on a whim without manually removing it from its group (just closing a tab) please do not use one of these as a replacement of the other. While technically both "save tabs" they are completely opposite in their use.6.8KViews2likes0CommentsCollections are not syncing properly, only half of them are synced
I'm using Windows 10 latest version with Mac 10.15.4 both running latest Microsoft Edge Version 82.0.459.1 (Official build) canary (64-bit) on Windows I have only 1 collection with few items in it edge://sync-internals/ this screenshot is from Windows 10. but on Mac I see I have 3 collections. I recently (an hour ago) deleted some collections that I didn't need from Edge on Windows but they are not Properly syncing back to other machines. this screenshot is from Mac. so right now there are some collections that are only on Mac but not on Windows and Edge sync doesn't do anything about them. I tried fully closing and reopening Edge on Mac but didn't help. also tried pressing the "Trigger GetUpdates" button on edge://sync-internals/ but there doesn't seem to be any new updates for Mac to get from Windows the Collection sync is only half way broken, not entirely. when I add all open tabs on Mac to a collection, I can see the new collection on Windows after few seconds (Not automatically, only after pressing Trigget GetUpdates button as shown above). let me know if you need any more info to solve Collection sync problem, thanks.Solved6.1KViews1like5CommentsCollections Feature Request: Adding Multiple Tabs To Existing Collection
Hi everybody, I really like Collections and the ability to organize them. I believe there could be a more efficient way to add multiple tabs to an existing Collection. Task/Problem to solve/What I want to do I have multiple tabs open researching something and I move in a different direction than I thought or planned. I want to close multiple tabs but wanna save them for later and I already have a Collection about the topic and therefore want to add those tabs to this existing Collection. How I'd like to do it I wanna send the tab from the tab bar to the Collection. I can think of two solutions that could work for me: 1) Let me drag a tab into an open Collection. 2) Give me a way to select multiple tabs, preferably with a checkbox, and the send via context menu to an existing Collection. Similar to the option "send tab to another window" (sorry if it is a slightly different option, I'm using the German version). Alternatively, the Collection could be open and I drag all the selected tabs to the Collection. Why, you ask? First, it isn't convenient to always move between the tab bar and the Collections pop-out. Secondly, it isn't efficient. And lastly, the miles I put on my arm, wrist, mouse and desktop are just too much 😉 To end on a happy note, I really enjoy working with the new Edge! Stay healthy!!!Solved5.5KViews1like7CommentsAdd local pdfs to collections and have pdfs in splitview
As the title is mentioning it would be awesome to add local saved pdfs that are open in edge to a collection. In that way i could have collections for different subjects in university. The other suggestion i have would be to have two pdfs alongside eachother (like splitview in a racing game but here vertical) so i can compare them or have a look at the lecture and the tasks at the same time. For now i have to open them in different windows but this isn't always helpful when i have to do open file explorer or so on, because it is messing thngs around and i have to click on each windows to have it back in top.5KViews11likes2CommentsForce a collections sync
As sync was off for a while, I've ended up with collections on two different machines, and I'm looking for a way to force one of these to be the master list and to sync across to my other machines. If I rename a collection an empty copy gets synced but not the content, and likewise if I edit a link in a collection that then will sync just that link. New collections are synced, just those created before. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thank you in advance.4.3KViews1like18Comments
