Climate Hackathon, took place online 22-26 March 2021. The goal was to raise awareness about the Climate issues and at the same time create a platform for our developer audience to develop innovative solutions with our Azure Services. We interviewed the team behind the winner of the Ecosystem track, Purple Penguins to get to know them, their motives to join the hackathon, as well as their learnings during the hackathon and how they want to apply these learnings in their upcoming projects.

Join us for the Climate Hackathon! The goal of this hackathon is to help non-governmental and non-profit organizations to solve some of their challenges with the use of technology. Challenges for the Climate Hackathon are provided by different non-governmental and non-profit organizations. We expect solutions to be submitted as open-source so they can help tackle the challenges other organizations have.
Hack the climate - for a sustainable world!
Environmental challenges are many, each with its own complexity. In some areas, we have come a long way. In other areas, humanity has barely moved. Non-profit organizations play a key role in solving some of these challenges but might not always have enough resources or technical competencies. To maximize the potential of these organizations, we partnered with several non-profits to run a Climate Hackathon. The organizations will bring together their domain expertise and real-life scenarios, as we join forces to leverage emerging technologies to mitigate the effects of climate change.
