Copilot+ PCs unlock capabilities you won’t find on any other PC. At Bett, we’re excited to announce Project Spark, a new free AI-enhanced learning app coming later this year to Copilot+ PCs. Via the power of AI Spark empowers educators to create interactive, personalized lessons quickly and with no-cost. Whether using their own materials or leveraging trusted resources available in the app, it makes teachers’ day-to-day easier by cutting the manual work and tech knowledge needed for content creation, and enables educators to provide active, meaningful, personalized and engaging learning experiences for their students. Project Spark is built on trusted partnerships with leading organizations: OpenStax: Harness the power of the world’s largest publisher of open educational resources (OER) and a leader in interactive learning technology, based at Rice University, to generate lessons tailored to your needs. NASA, Figma and Minecraft Education: Explore ready-to-learn interactive lessons that inspire creativity, curiosity, and next-level engagement both in the classroom and beyond. Kahoot!: Effortlessly create personalized, interactive Kahoot! games with on-device AI, to engage your classroom with fun and effective learning experiences. Project Spark brings learning value to the entire Windows classroom; while lesson generation is only available on Copilot+ PC devices, anyone with a Modern PC can use the extensive ready-to-learn lesson library or any lesson created by their colleagues to share with students, and students can play lessons on any Windows device. Grounded in learning science and developed with responsible AI principles in mind, Project Spark is the first educational solution natively built for Copilot+ PCs, harnessing on-device AI (NPUs) to elevate teaching and learning and ensures lessons are not only impactful but also inclusive, engaging, and safe. Today, we’re pleased to announce Math Progress, a new Learning Accelerator, is now generally available in Microsoft Teams for Education for all supported languages. Math Progress streamlines assignment creation and provides student performance insights to help educators identify course trends at the individual or class level. And it’s easy to keep students on track by addressing mistakes or common misconceptions to accelerate learning. As a powerful formative assessment tool, Math Progress simplifies lesson planning by providing educators with activities and quizzes designed on math concepts that students are prepared to learn. To create a new Math Progress assignment, Educators can go into the Assignments module in Teams for Education, choose the Create button, and then Learning Accelerators -> Math Progress. Saves educators' time Educators can use an intelligent question generator to create a robust set of relevant math problems which include some answers as distractors based on common mistakes to help students think more critically as they build their knowledge. Educators can customize assignments by choosing the following options: Show your work - offers students the option to upload images or share links to OneNote pages to show their work. Student rating - optionally requests students share feedback on the level of difficulty for each question (easy, hard, or just right) to self-identify concepts where students may struggle. Shuffle question order - randomly reorders problems for each student to improve assignment integrity. Addresses mistakes and misconceptions Once students submit their work, it’s automatically graded and mistakes are detected, along with common misconceptions these mistakes may support. Once an assignment is assessed and sent back to students, they’re supported with step-by-step guidance to each problem to help students learn the correct solution. Provides actionable insights Educators can review rich insights on each student’s progress over time and benchmark with the class performance metrics, including the overall grade, number of points, most frequent question difficulty rating, and mistakes and misconceptions identified in this and other assignments to help better understand learning trends. Yesterday we announced 8 new updates for OneNote for the upcoming BETT conference in London. We've put a summary of these updates below, but to get more details on these updates, head over to the BETT blog titled: Live from BETT: What’s new in EDU–free resources to boost engagement and collaboration Delete a distributed page – the #1 UserVoice request from educators has been for the ability to bulk delete a distributed page in a OneNote Class Notebook. We’ve listened, and we are excited to announce this will be rolling this feature out in February! OneNote Live Captions: In February, we are rolling out a private preview of OneNote that allows any student to connect OneNote to a Microsoft Translator captions via a Join Codeand receive the captions and translation stream. This allows captions from the educator speaking to flow directly into OneNote for reading, while still allowing the student to take notes. In addition, the student can pause the captions, highlight portions, and then have the entire transcription saved as a page into OneNote. “Save a Copy” in OneNote for the web- Educators, trainers, and students often want to make a copy of their notebook available to others. For example: a great notebook template in your district that your trainer wants to share. In the next month, we’ll be rolling out the ability to “Save a Copy” of a OneNote notebook. To begin with, this will only be supported within the same Office 365 tenant, with broader support coming later in the year Manage Notebook improvements: Now when you click the “Manage Notebook” button in the Class Notebook toolbar, you will be launched directly into the Manage Notebooks space in the Class Notebook web app for the Class Notebook you are already in, which saves teachers time. Distribute a page from a non-EDU Notebook – another top request from educators has been the ability to distribute a OneNote page from a regular OneNote notebook. This has now rolled out globally to OneNote for Windows 10, Mac, iPad and web. Equation Tools in OneNote for Windows 10: We’re thrilled to let you know that we’re starting to roll out Equation Tools in OneNote for Windows 10. Equation Tools allows students to input and make changes to math equations more easily than by typing those in with a keyboard. Math Assistant in OneNote for iPad: We’re excited to announce we’re bringing Math Assistant in OneNote to iPad users this spring.. Reminder that OneNote Desktop is NOT going away! – in case you missed the big announcement in November, OneNote 2016 Desktop is going to not only stay supported for years, we will be updating it significantly in 2020 and beyond We hope you enjoy these new OneNote updates!
