I have come across a number of articles on migrating distribution groups to Office 365 when you're not in hybrid mode. My situation is having hundreds of DLs on my on-prem Exchange environment that I need to move to the cloud. We don't want these converted to Office 365 groups, we want true distribution groups in the cloud. Is this possible with scripting or some other method? I really don't want to have to re-create these by hand.246KViews0likes48CommentsRemove On Premises exchange Hybrid and go fully Online
Hello, I currently have a scenario where there is a Hybrid Exchange environment with 1 server. All my mailboxes have been migrated online. I would like to completely remove dependency on local AD and I do not care about AD synchronization. How do I "tell" the O365 tenant not function on it's own so that I can manage 100% from 365 Administration? I do understand that my MX and other DNS records will need to be changed. Are there any solid guides out there on decommissioning the on premise exchange server. I want to do this with the least impact on users. Hi all, Our scenario is the following: CompanyA has on-premise AD and Exchange. They have deployed Azure AD Connect and ADFS with their own Azure tenant and everything is working fine. CompanyB har their own on-premise AD and Exchange. They want to use same tenant as CompanyA, but want On-premise AD to be seperated. What is supported scenario, if any? According to this article, the closest they get is Multiple forest, single Azure AD tenant: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/connect/active-directory-aadconnect-topologies What are pros and cons ? They will probably need to setup trust between them? Other ways this can be achieve? thanks!Solved115KViews1like19CommentsHow to Merge Exchange Online mailbox
Hi All I have an office365 user who left the company 3 months back, his mailbox is still active his email is user1@contoso.com and the same user has joined the company back and we have created a new mailbox for him and the name of the mailbox is user2@contoso.com. Is it possible to merge both the mailboxes, i.e we only want user2@contoso.com, we want user1@contoso.com mails to be merged with user2@contoso.com ie. all the mails of user1@contoso.com to be merged with user2@contoso.com and user1@contoso.com should not exist and user2@contoso.com should have all the emails of user1@contoso.com without loosing.75KViews0likes4CommentsHow to create mailing lists (distribution lists) in AD with custom settings and sync with Office365
Hi, We have on-premise AD infrastructure which we have configured to sync with Azure and hence Office365. We want to implement mass mailing list functionality where subscription is automated. Our old email system offers mailing lists and closest I see with Microsoft is distribution lists. I'd like to understand how I can create distribution lists in AD, subscribe members, assign proper permissions and also customize the configuration programmatically? We'd like to sync with Office365. How can we achieve this? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.58KViews0likes4CommentsDuplicate Accounts in O365 from Azure AD Sync
We have a unique situation where we synchronized our existing AD domain of 'company.eu' to our O365 tenant 'company.com'. In O365, 'company.com' includes everyone in the US and Europe...all Company employees, while the AD domain only has EU employees. We bought the 'company.eu' domain, and I added it to O365 as a secondary domain. Some users got the secondary email "user@company.eu", and some have not. Since synchronizing AD, some users have 2 accounts in O365 (user@company.com, in cloud AND user@company.eu, synced from AD). When I try to modify any aliases in O365, I'm shown its controlled by AD sync. Is there a way to merge the duplicate accounts in O365? We have to keep the primary email as 'company.com', but also have their AD accounts synced with O365 for SSO. Ideas?Solved48KViews0likes6CommentsIs there a way to convert Office 365 group to Shared Mailbox easily? + DL's changing email address
Is there a way to convert Office 365 group to Shared Mailbox easily using powershell, we dont want to loose the conversations either or is it too complex. Users dont want an office 365 group, I have tried! but they like moving emails around into different folders and we dont have cached exchange mode. I also have DL's to change the email address for but they are sync'ed onpremise and other groups, can you easily change these with powershell ? Hi All We're about to go through the migration process for on premise mailboxes and home drives to M365 Exchange online and OneDrive. We have on premise AD which will remain in place which is synchronising to Azure AD. The Sys Admins have an existing User account tidy up\deletion process of checking last log on date, disabling the AD account and moving it to a disabled user OU - Fairly standard for most on-prem businesses. However if we have migrated a User's mailbox and OneDrive to M365, disabled the on-prem AD account and then moved it to an OU that isnt synchronised with Azure AD, what happens to that Users M365 data? I'm thinking of ways to mitigate against loss of data and ensuring if we want to delete mailboxes\OneDrive that is done in a controlled manner. Maybe we should at least sync the disabled users OU with Azure and then go through the offboarding process within M365 to archive mailboxes\OneDrive?
