7 TopicsSlow Wi-Fi Speeds on Laptop with (Dev Channel 24H2)
I’m currently on the Dev Channel, Windows 24H2, and experiencing an issue with my laptop's Wi-Fi performance. While my laptop connects well to all other Wi-Fi networks, it struggles with the Wi-Fi extender in my room. On other devices like my phone and another laptop, the extender provides speeds of 80 to 100 Mbps, but on my laptop, the speed drops to just 5 to 6 Mbps. I’ve tried basic troubleshooting steps like restarting, reconnecting, and checking drivers, but the issue persists. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!Solved274Views0likes2CommentsWin11 25905.1000 Network Fault
My computer has a network connection rate of 10Mbps every time I turn it on, but I have a broadband of 100Mbps. At this point, I only need to disable the network card and then enable it, and the speed will be restored. It has been ruled out that there is a problem with the operator or network cable. Is it a system issue? And how can I solve it?637Views1like0CommentsNetwork Printers
Maybe I am missing something, but how does UP work for network printers at different facilities. We have multiple locations on an ELAN with their own IP for the sites. We have few print servers that serve all locations. Is there a benefit using UP? I understand that some printers will have the UP option available, but for those network printers that don't, will they still need to ride on the server that uses a connector? A handful of printers are local to a user so I understand that the PC will need a connector, but what about community printers?818Views0likes1CommentWindows 11: Show us a notification when built-in VPN in Windows 11 suddenly disconnects
it's important for security and privacy reasons, when the built in VPN connection in Windows 11 suddenly disconnects and its connection drops, we should receive a notification and be warned. right now, nothing happens and VPN silently disconnects without warning user. Hi folks, i'm wondering how i can change the printers name, which is shown in this dialogue: In our companys network there are several printers which are listed here, too. But: The shown names are not ideal, because they are always like "HP XY123-DN series", no meaningful names like the printers location. We manage our printers on an Windows Server 2019 print server. Any ideas are highly appreciated.1.3KViews0likes3CommentsIs my sytem and folders visible on my network? And can a "hacker" access them?
Dear everyone 1. Are those default shared folders in Windows? (The attached screenshot in the thread) 2. Can those folders be compromised, infected etc. like regular shared folders? (The folders on the screenshot) 3. File and Printer sharing is only available, when Network Discovery is turned ON? 4. When Network Discovery is turned OFF, are the Default folders presented in the Command Prompt screenshot still accessable on the network? 5. When Network Discovery is turned OFF, is it then impossible for a "hacker", who has access to my / is withtin my network, to see and locate my PC system? 6. If a "hacker" has access to my network via Wi-fi password or cable, the person would still have to know my Windows user password, to be able to access my system? 7. If a "hacker" don't have access to my network, the person would still have to know my Windows user password, to be able to access my system external / through the internet? I have a file server fileserver1 with two IPs, a LAN IP 192.168.100.100 and a VPN IP 192.168.200.200. The Windows 10 Pro client uses the DNS name fileserver1.company.corp to get the correct IP depending on its own network (LAN or VPN). DNS name resolution works without problems. The client has a persistent network drive K: \\fileserver1.company.corp. Unfortunately the Windows 10 Pro client always seems to use the cached server IP (192.168.100.100 or 192.168.200.200) to reconnect the network drive on startup. Some users want to wakeup the Windows PC from powersave mode. If the client uses the cached IP from the other location (LAN vs. VPN), access to this drive fails. How can I update the network drive IP? Currently I use two workarounds. On most PCs it is enough to delete network drives (net use K: /delete) and then connect the network drive again with the DNS name (net use K: \\fileserver1.company.corp /persistent:yes) Some PCs need a reboot between deletion of network drive and connection919Views0likes1Comment
