PC wakes up from sleep mode almost instantly
I want to put PC in sleep mode but it keeps turning back on almost instantly. Been having this issue for several weeks but before that it never did this. I ran the command prompt and did the "powercfg/lastwake" and it's showing this text below as the reason it's turning back on. Anyone know how to resolve this issue and what this means?How do I UPDATE (not upgrade) Windows 11 from 21H2 without TPM?
I installed Windows 11 on a non-TPM computer ages ago, using Rufus. But now I'm told my version 21H2 has reached end of service and when I try to update using the Windows11InstallationAssistant, it tells me TPM is needed. I already change the registry and rebooted as I found on this site: Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup. Create a new registry key under Setup and name it LabConfig. Within LabConfig, create DWORDs values BypassTPMCheck and BypassSecureBootCheck and set each to 1. But it still detects this absence of TPM. How do I get past this? (without the hassle of ISOs and booting off other media), it must be possible.
What is the ConX setup experience?
I recently tried to update my windows 11 24H2 and got an error message that says "Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0xC1900106: Windows 11 Insider Preview 10.0.26120.X (ge_release_upr)." While looking up the logs, I found entries like: Determining whether we should run ConX or legacy setup Date-time, Info UI Will launch ConX setup experience , Info UI Initializing Media class driver for audio support , Info UI Initializing media class driver status: 126 , Info UI Launching ConX setup experience , Info UI Inspecting ConX Setup Cmdline , Info UI Launching C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\SetupPrep.exe I am wondering what is this new setup experience? Is there any configuration which could be changed for using legacy setup? The setup failed. Where could I find detailed diagnostic log? Event viewer did not show any relevant log entry for this failure.
Windows Cumulative Update won't install ?
2024-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5043076) It just won't install; apparently it has tried every day for a while. The error code is 0x800736b3. I am not a W11 expert by any stretch, and frankly not sure what to do. What is kind of weird is that another version(?) is available (same title, KB5043145). This home built PC originally had W10, and I upgraded years ago without any issues.Is it REALLY a bad idea to install Windows 11 on an 'unsupported' system?
I downloaded the little Windows tool, and it told me my PC is not compatible with Windows 11, but it's basically because of the lack of the TPM 2.0 module. Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 8700k Mobo: Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming Ram: 32gb DDR4 3200 I'm thinking about upgrading my whole system (Ryzen 7 9700x CPU, with compatible mobo and RAM), instead of bypassing the W11 TPM 2.0 module requirement, all because I've heard that down the line there may be some "incompatibility" or security issues that Windows may require TPM 2.0 for. And I've also heard that buying a TPM 2.0 module for my mobo just to make it compatible with W11 is not really the best idea either.How to burn Linux ISO to USB on Windows 11/10 PC?
Hi all, My old Windows 10 PC is retiring and I bought a new Windows 11 PC. I heard it could be a good choice to run Linux on a budget and old machine. Before doing that, I need to create a Linux bootable USB first. Does any one know how to burn Linux ISO to USB on a Windows 11/10 PC? I heard the official Windows Media Creation Tool but the USB is not recognized as a bootable device. Am I using the wrong tool? Thanks
"Can't access Recall right now"
I've enabled Recall feature on Windows 11 Pro (26120.3380) on my Surface Laptop 7 with Snapdragon X Plus. I was able to use it for a while, but then since some recent update (or maybe after I changed the primary login email for my Live.com account), it stopped working. Even though it's turned on and appears to be saving snapshots (it shows it's using disk space), I can't access any snapshots. I tried turning the feature off and on using command line (Recall doesn't show up as one of the features I can enable/disable on "Turn Windows Features on or off" program). Also tried deleting all snapshots, disabling/re-enabling Recall, etc. None of them fixes this. I also get this message sometimes, even though I have Bitlocker turned on:File explorer "see more" tab always opens upwards 24H2
Hi all! I'm on 24H2 with Insider RP build 1882. When I go into File Explorer and click on the 3 dots in the address bar for "see more" the tab always opens upwards. Hence if the window is at the top of the screen, the options are not visible. I have to drag the screen down in order to see them and when I do drag, there's a black bar appears at the top of the screen. Happens on all 3 of my PCs. The view button opens correctly. Anyone else seeing this?
