PC wakes up from sleep mode almost instantly
I want to put PC in sleep mode but it keeps turning back on almost instantly. Been having this issue for several weeks but before that it never did this. I ran the command prompt and did the "powercfg/lastwake" and it's showing this text below as the reason it's turning back on. Anyone know how to resolve this issue and what this means?LawrencecemMar 12, 2025Iron Contributor9Views0likes0CommentsHow do I UPDATE (not upgrade) Windows 11 from 21H2 without TPM?
I installed Windows 11 on a non-TPM computer ages ago, using Rufus. But now I'm told my version 21H2 has reached end of service and when I try to update using the Windows11InstallationAssistant, it tells me TPM is needed. I already change the registry and rebooted as I found on this site: Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup. Create a new registry key under Setup and name it LabConfig. Within LabConfig, create DWORDs values BypassTPMCheck and BypassSecureBootCheck and set each to 1. But it still detects this absence of TPM. How do I get past this? (without the hassle of ISOs and booting off other media), it must be possible.ZachariahhMar 12, 2025Iron Contributor8Views0likes0CommentsIs it REALLY a bad idea to install Windows 11 on an 'unsupported' system?
I downloaded the little Windows tool, and it told me my PC is not compatible with Windows 11, but it's basically because of the lack of the TPM 2.0 module. Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 8700k Mobo: Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming Ram: 32gb DDR4 3200 I'm thinking about upgrading my whole system (Ryzen 7 9700x CPU, with compatible mobo and RAM), instead of bypassing the W11 TPM 2.0 module requirement, all because I've heard that down the line there may be some "incompatibility" or security issues that Windows may require TPM 2.0 for. And I've also heard that buying a TPM 2.0 module for my mobo just to make it compatible with W11 is not really the best idea either.EverettiinMar 12, 2025Iron Contributor9Views0likes0Comments"Can't access Recall right now"
I've enabled Recall feature on Windows 11 Pro (26120.3380) on my Surface Laptop 7 with Snapdragon X Plus. I was able to use it for a while, but then since some recent update (or maybe after I changed the primary login email for my Live.com account), it stopped working. Even though it's turned on and appears to be saving snapshots (it shows it's using disk space), I can't access any snapshots. I tried turning the feature off and on using command line (Recall doesn't show up as one of the features I can enable/disable on "Turn Windows Features on or off" program). Also tried deleting all snapshots, disabling/re-enabling Recall, etc. None of them fixes this. I also get this message sometimes, even though I have Bitlocker turned on:lkjp97tkMar 11, 2025Copper Contributor6Views0likes0CommentsWin 11 laptop won't detect headphones unless I restart
I have a Dell G15 15.6" FHD 120Hz Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i7 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, WIN 11. Had it a few months, bought new. It used to detect my headphones when I plugged them in but now it doesn't, but if I restart the laptop it detects them with no issue. Headphones are the only thing I use for audio so usually its not an issue, unless they get pulled out accidently or when I put it away when I leave house, then when I return I have to remember to plug headphones in FIRST before I start up the laptop, which I never do. So this issue is a mild pain in my butt. Tried reinstalling drivers and made sure they are up to date from Dell site. The site has an auto-detect driver thingie that shows they are all up to date. Any ideas?LuccaskMar 10, 2025Iron Contributor5Views0likes0CommentsInside builder incompability with games anticheat sofwares

Hi! So, in my quest to debloat, enhance privacy, decrease the amount of background processes and improve usability, and in particular to avoid that Windows keeps installing stuff that I don't want (apps, optional components, older drivers), I came across the option to disable OneSettings downloads in the "data collection and preview builds" in gpedit. The description says If you disable or don't configure this policy setting, Windows will periodically attempt to connect with the OneSettings service to download configuration settings. But, WHICH configuration settings? To configure what? And how does it differ from the things that Windows Update installs specifically for my system (like drivers etc)?DebramSancheMar 06, 2025Iron Contributor11Views0likes0CommentsFix for random system stutters on Windows 11 24H2
Hey guys, I just wanted to share a possible fix for random system freezes and stutters on windows 11 24h2. Settings -> System -> Display -> Graphics -> Optimizations for windowed games -> Off Two weeks ago windows update forced me to install 24H2 and after that my pc started to stutter randomly, new nvidia drivers started displaying black screen when I launch any game and my kb&m started disconnecting at the same time when system freezes. Turning off this optimization for windowed games somehow fixed my issue with this random freezes and kb&m disconnecting, and I had to rollback drivers for gpu to 572.16 to fix back screen issue.Cody-HutsonMar 06, 2025Iron Contributor237Views0likes0CommentsWhen booting Windows 11, version 24H2 I get to recovery mode
When booting Windows 11, version 24H2 I get to recovery mode with three options for partitions. If I press enter on any of them Windows 11, version 24H2 continues to boot. Any ideas how to resolve issue so I just boot straight into Windows 11, version 24H2. Thank you for all help given.EstherMomMar 06, 2025Iron Contributor9Views0likes0CommentsSleep Mode results in Shut Down
I have "Put Computer to Sleep" at 15 minutes idle in the power options. Double checked and verified this. This past week my PC started shutting down minutes after being put to Sleep. It has done it on the timer as well as manually. I'm kinda stumped on what changed or why this suddenly started. And I don't want to disable "Fast Startup" like Google has suggested. I don't feel like disabling a good thing is a solution to fixing a problem. Built this PC in 2021...BraylonsMar 06, 2025Iron Contributor12Views0likes0Comments
