Welcome to the Partners for Social Impact Community! Growth opportunities abound in the Nonprofit Sector. Microsoft is investing in this sector and here is why you should too. Microsoft is committed to doubling the number of nonprofits we reach over the next five years (to 600K by 2027), but we need partners to help us hit that goal. In 2017 Microsoft invested in the Nonprofit Sector through the creation of the Microsoft Technology for Social Impact organization to scale our reach and impact in the nonprofit sector. Why is Microsoft engaged in this work? We recognized two things. First, nonprofit is one of the largest industries in the world and represents a massive opportunity to drive meaningful digital transformation that impacts not just these organizations, but the downstream beneficiaries they serve, whether that be a child, a rescue animal, or a rainforest. Second, nonprofits need the same technology solutions and services of a commercial industry and rely on Microsoft and its partner ecosystem to support them in their technology adoption. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7063890855887073281 May 15, 2023 Announcing new AI capabilities in Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit By Justin Spelhaug Vice President, Tech for Social Impact, Microsoft Philanthropies Today we’re excited to announce powerful new AI tools and capabilities in Microsoft Cloud for Nonprofit that will help nonprofit organizations accelerate their missions. While AI could be used across many parts of a nonprofit organization, putting AI to work to amplify fundraising and marketing efforts allows nonprofit professionals to spend more time working with the communities they serve. It’s a practical place to start our AI journey together and solves issues common to almost every nonprofit on the planet. Donorfy’s cloud-based nonprofit CRM platform provides fundraisers with the tools to spend less time on busywork—and focus on generating the revenue that drives impact. With Donorfy, charity startups and established giants alike save time on recurring fundraising tasks, deepen relationships with new and ongoing supporters, and increase revenue to fund their important work. “We deliver simplicity,” explains Ben Brett, CTO and co-founder of Donorfy. “Our platform takes care of the nuts and bolts, and it removes tedious manual steps, so our customers can grow.” To expand its reach and accelerate the development of advanced features, Donorfy joined the Microsoft Tech for Social Impact (TSI) Digital Natives Partner Program. The program brings on cloud-first SaaS companies and independent service vendors (ISVs) to serve nonprofits through innovative technology solutions in line with Microsoft technology offerings. “The Digital Natives partnership helps Donorfy, but ultimately it helps our customers do more,” says Ben Twyman, Chief Commercial Officer at Donorfy. “Working with Microsoft—probably the most advanced company in the world working on AI and related specialties—means we can bring that expertise to our customer base, and Digital Natives helps us shout out how we’re helping customers reach their mission faster.” “We are proud to partner with Donorfy to help charities in the UK and beyond achieve their mission,” says Craig Parker, Global SaaS Partnerships Lead for the Digital Natives Partner Program at Microsoft Tech for Social Impact. “Donorfy, as a leading fundraising CRM platform, embraces innovation and shares our vision of how AI can accelerate social good.” As a cloud-native company, Donorfy has always been built in Microsoft Azure. “By using a single supplier—Microsoft—we have an end-to-end chain that enables us to build a great solution,” Brett explains. “The scalability in Azure saves a massive amount of time and allows us to get on with our jobs of supporting charities.” The ongoing relationship with Microsoft made joining Digital Natives a clear next step. Digital Natives supports nonprofit-focused businesses like Donorfy to reach more customers and develop new solutions that empower mission-driven organizations. “There’s a good synergy between Microsoft and Donorfy, in that we’re both making technology simple, accessible, and smart enough to make the world better and fairer,” Twyman says. “With this partnership, both companies win and achieve.” Read the full case studySubmittable accelerates growth and AI innovation with Microsoft
Submittable’s social impact platform enables foundations to manage the end-to-end process for grants, corporate giving, and awards. With Submittable, customers collect and review applications, award funds, track change, and report on results. “We enable the social impact sector to work more efficiently and more equitably,” says Sam Caplan, Vice President of Social Impact at Submittable. “We focus on creating a trust-based environment and deepening relationships between funders, nonprofit organizations, and the communities they serve.” To multiply its impact, Submittable joined the Digital Natives Partner Program, a select group of innovative ISV partners that Microsoft Tech for Social Impact (TSI) has chosen to invest in and grow with. The Digital Natives program helps cloud-first SaaS companies connect with Microsoft’s vast community of nearly 400,000 nonprofits and continuously innovate their Azure-based solutions. “We’re continually looking for ways to grow and help our customers serve their communities,” Caplan says. “We get a huge jumpstart by working on the Azure platform, taking advantage of the work Microsoft has done around AI, and being closely partnered with TSI.” “The partnership with Submittable is built on shared values and a shared commitment to bring the very best capabilities our two organizations have to offer,” explains Jeremy Pitman, Director of the Digital Natives Partner Program at Microsoft TSI. He adds, “By working together on AI and modern technology solutions, we are able to accelerate the impact mission-driven organizations are having in their communities.” About a year ago, Submittable decided to leave their current cloud platform and move workloads to Microsoft Azure with the support of Redapt, an Azure partner. With this strategic move, Submittable can expand their reach to more mission-driven organizations, develop industry leading AI-powered features, and be leaders in the impact technology landscape alongside Microsoft. “Microsoft's TSI team has some of the world’s deepest knowledge of the nonprofit sector—a level of expertise we couldn’t get anywhere else,” Caplan says. “It made perfect sense for us to be closely connected so we can continue to learn and contribute to this amazing work.” Submittable always seeks to streamline the grantmaking and giving process for its customers and applicants. They recently worked with a Microsoft Partner Technical Strategist to develop and launch a series of AI-enabled tools that reduce busy work. The tools, which run on Azure, help applicants fill out forms quickly, reviewers understand and synthesize the most vital information from applications, and administrators easily build new application forms using natural language prompts—no coding expertise required. “Our AI features are becoming some of our most appreciated benefits on the platform,” Caplan says. “I don’t think we could have introduced them as fast or as well as we did without this partnership.” The AI tools don’t replace but rather complement the people who make decisions and craft creative solutions. By freeing up their time, these features enable Submittable’s customers and grant applicants to focus on work that moves the needle on their most ambitious goals. “As nonprofits harness the potential of artificial intelligence, Submittable is mindful that technology alone is not the destination—it’s the vehicle,” says Justin Spelhaug, Corporate Vice President of Tech for Social Impact at Microsoft Philanthropies. “In the realm of AI in social impact, Submittable is a leading example of the future where nonprofits can achieve more than ever before.” Download the full case study to learn how Submittable is boosting social impact with the Digital Natives Partner Program.Read about changes to the grants provided by Microsoft Philanthropies and Links to FAQs
