New indicator “EA” on avatar for Microsoft Teams Public Preview users
Microsoft Teams Public Preview channel allows customers to easily preview and evaluate pre-release Teams features before they roll out to the rest of their company. There are no program requirements or commitments. This is an opt-in channel controlled via IT admin policy. Users who are in the Public Preview channel of Teams will see "EA" (Early Access) next to their profile picture indicating that they have early access to Teams features in public preview (as shown in the image below). To learn more about Teams Public Preview and how to set/update the preview policy, please refer Public preview in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Docs To get the latest update on the features in Public Preview, follow or subscribe to this Microsoft Tech Community page. Description Wish you could get some extra help behind the scenes while presenting in a Teams meeting? Check out our new Presenter View! Once you select a PowerPoint file from the Teams Share Tray, Presenter View is opened automatically. You can see the current slide, the slide notes, and a thumbnail strip of all the slides in the deck for easy ad-hoc slide navigation. This view is completely behind the scenes. It’s private to the presenter in control. Your audience can only see your current slide (highlighted in the big red box), or the slide that they choose to navigate to (if audience navigation is not locked by you). If you have a co-presenter for the meeting, when that person clicks “Take Control”, Presenter View will be opened for him or her immediately, while you’ll be switched to the normal audience view without the slide notes and the thumbnail strip. Flighting status Completed, fully available in R3.6. How to enable No setup needed. This is a view private to the presenter in control. Once the feature is available to you, you will see it if sharing a PowerPoint during a Teams meeting. Under Share tray > PowerPoint, choose a file and you will see the slide notes and the thumbnails of all of the slides. Since I started using the New Teams I have not been able to toggle the setting to start the client automatically when I login to Windows. When trying to click the setting nothing happens. There will not even be a tick in the box. If I switch back to the "old" teams, the setting is working. All the other settings can be toggled and working. Description We are announcing that Wiki's will be retired from Teams starting January 2024. We are offering note taking capabilities within Teams channels using the included OneNote notebook provided for each team. With this release, users have an option to export their wiki content to OneNote notebooks in Teams standard channel. After exporting users can go to the Notes tab to collaborate using OneNote in channels while Wiki is read only after export. Why are we moving to a new note taking experience? This new functionality provides an improved note taking experience over Wiki. Some of the improvements are: Easy collaboration across the team View all channel notes in a team in one place organized within single notebook Rich editing with typing, ink annotations, highlighting, file attachments, etc. Easy recall & search for channel notes within OneNote Plan to enable OneNote Notes in Teams channel and retire Wiki Users now have the option to export their Wiki content to OneNote Notebooks or they can continue to read/write their existing Wiki. Post export users can continue to collaborate in Notes tab in channels and have a copy of older Wiki content available for reference. When Wikis are exported each page in Wiki will appear as a page in OneNote Notebook section. Users can’t create new Wikis in new channel experience; for note taking we suggest using OneNote. For new channels Notes will be available as default tab soon. For now, user can create Notes tab manually using add a tab option. We request you to try out the new Wiki export experience and share your feedback. How to try out the experience In Teams, go to whatever channel has the wiki you want to export. In the Wiki tab, select Get details > Export to Notes > Finish. Go to the Notes tab to access your content.
