Outlook
My setup: Home user, Intel Gen12, Windows11 Pro. My Outlook is configured for local storage (POP3). No Sharepoint, no Microsoft Teams, not linked to my iPhone. Very simple setup that I have used for years, apart from having auto update enabled in Windows.
I am trying to load an alternate older .pst file that is stored locally on the same HDD. I go to File, Account settings, and try to load the required .pst. I get the error message, "You cannot use an Internet address here. Enter a path that points to a location on your computer or on the network." This happens as I try to browse to a local file. As soon as I try to access my 😧 data drive I get the nonsensical error. It is not an internet address.
Does anyone know what is wrong?

Did you ever figure this out? I am still not able to figure out my issue.

Yes, look at my answer below. It works!

Just click on the > not the full drive name. That works.
Any luck on permission and run as administrator?

I am not sure what that means?

Is there a solution to this error? I've had the same Outlook 2021 setup for years, now I can't add a new pst file that's on my HDD. Even if I delete one that's currently there I can't add it again. I get this nonsensical error "you cannot use an internet address here enter a path that points to a location".
It's not an internet address, it's my on HDD!
Any help?

Did you ever get a response to your question? I am experiencing the same thing.

This error STILL exists in Outlook. The response suggested by cunniaan worked once before for me, but not just recently when I had to add a new email account. When nominating my existing outlook.pst file I immediately got told the file address on my PC was unacceptable as it was a web site. The solution written by cunniaan did not work this last time! (The address is D:\Outlook\outlook.pst - just how Microsoft still thinks this is a web address fails me...)
Surely Microsoft can fix this??
