Windows Activation O365 - Changes Status
Hello -
We are having an issue where our company end clients (laptops / PCs) change activation status from active to not activated.
This has been happening for 2 years now and was happening pre our move to O365 licensing. When we moved to O365 licensing the issue appeared to correct itself but then returned.
This affects multiple machines in our environment and happens randomly. We are using 0365 online activation. No KMS, no ADBA.
The last troubleshooting step we took with MS Support was to delete the PersistedSystemState registry key under HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform on the 2 affected machines we are using for troubleshooting.
So far, the activation status has not changed. I do hope this has fixed the issue but I don't understand what may have caused this initially and I am looking for an RCA which MS has not been able to provide. H
Has anyone else had this issue.
TIA.
Please investigate by below:
- Network Connectivity: Ensure that the affected machines have consistent and reliable Internet access. Intermittent connectivity can sometimes cause activation issues.
- System Time and Date: Verify that the system time and date settings are correct on all affected machines. Incorrect settings can interfere with activation.
- Windows Updates: Make sure all machines are fully updated with the latest Windows updates. Sometimes, updates can resolve underlying issues.
- Office Licensing Service: Check the status of the Office Licensing Service on the affected machines. Ensure it is running and set to start automatically.
- Group Policy Settings: Review any Group Policy settings that might affect activation. Sometimes, policies can inadvertently interfere with the activation process.
- Event Logs: Examine the Event Viewer logs on the affected machines for any errors or warnings related to activation. This can provide clues about what might be causing the issue.
