One Drive and iOS Files app connection issue
Hi, I’m using the iOS Files app to connect to One Drive.
Recently I have experienced the following problem when trying to connect to One Drive.
Files app displays the error message, Content Unavailable. The folder contents could not be displayed because of an unknown error - try again.
I have deleted the One Drive and iOS Files app and reinstalled and tried to connect again but the problem continues. I have logged an issue with One Drive but we seem to be going around in circles and the agent doesn’t get the issue, even after sending a screen recording of what’s happening. Any ideas what’s going on as it’s doing my head in?

Restarting my phone resolved the issue for me.

I've had the same issue several times.
I'd cleared that with rebooting my ipad.
Just turn off and turn on again. This solved my issue that ios File app couldn't connect to the 3rd party cloud services as Onedrive, Dropbox etc.
Good luck.
- IMazenCopper ContributorI just restart my iphone and it works just fine
- iAwwadCopper ContributorI'm having the exact same issue, I'm having the latest iOS and also the latest OneDrive, I've seen some replies mentioning that the feature has been removed from the latest OneDrive!

No issues here. I removed onedrive ages ago, rebooted and reinstalled.
Been sweet ever since bar the crashes onedrive has every now and again.
- iAwwadCopper ContributorI have reset the account, luckily it worked with me also
- AdeA7Copper ContributorAlso experiencing the same issue! It is so frustrating.

Just starting having this issue today after not experiencing it at all previously. iPhone 12 Pro Max running 14.6. OneDrive app is up to date. Have removed from Files, signed out/in. Nothing seems to restore the problem. This is bad as my business expense tracking app attaches files through the Apple Files app only. This needs to get fixed like yesterday please!!
- ghozalidotnetCopper ContributorI've not had issues with one drive and files app for a while now. Running SE 2nd gen and iPad 10.5 both running 14.7 beta.
I suggest deleting the accounts, reboot your device then sign in again?

stevenjeve here is the fix for this
in IOS or IPadOS , go to settings,
search for Onedrive
( this will sign you out of onedrive accounts)
the toggle the clear cache option
close the apps , reopen one drive and sign back in
open files app and toggle onedrive back on
this will let onedrive work in files again ( this works on IPadOS and IOS 14.2 beta ) so should be the same for other versions
- pquadratCopper ContributorHello,
I‘m using iOS 14.4.1 on iPhone 11 and iPad 8. I still have that issue on both devices, the solution didn’t work for me.
OneDrive App itself works ok. Because several apps use iOS file app access, I can‘t access OneDrive with them. Only PDF Expert offers own services and OneDrive is accessible for that single app.- Justin_BarkerCopper Contributor
pquadrat Latest OneDrive app update has removed the functionality, effectively - made it read only (check the iOS OneDrive app release notes)

Drdj425 Worked for me!!! finally this issue is solved 🙂 it seems that OneDrive team has solved it but it requires a clear cache 🙂

stevenjeve - Looking to see if you have gotten any response from the OneDrive team on your experience.
I have run into this problem for months now and initially thought it may have to do with running the beta iOS/iPadOS. I dug out an older iPad Air and reset it tonight which was on iOS 13. I setup OneDrive and Files worked as expected. When I updated that iPad to 14.0.1 files did not display files from OneDrive. It looks to be related to the current iOS/iPad OS.

Delete the OneDrive app, install it again and open the file app (don‘t open the OneDrive app before) and navigate to the OneDrive folder. That solved my issue .

stevenjeve I had the same problem too. For me, I turned off the Onedrive app needing authentication from FaceID and Onedrive now appears in the Files app with no problems at all. Hope that helps for someone else too.
- jshield777Copper ContributorI've been experiencing this problem for months.
@microsft - how do we fix?
