Recognition if customer migrates from on prem to Cloud

Hi community,

We are wondering if the scenario below will have a positive impact on our deployment data (D365 Business Application membership status >> Customer Success >> Deployment).

Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Ralf

Scenario

  • Customer is using Dynamics CRM on premise.
  • We have successfully completed a migration from on prem to Cloud (D365).
  • We intend to log CPOR-OSU to get recognition for MAU growth.

Question

  • Would we additionally see the customer listed under deployment data as well?
  • OR not because we already did a deployment on prem, and a migration will not meet the "deployment" eligibility criteria.?

Assume that we are meeting other requirements such as min MCV, workload etc.

  • Yes, migrations from on-premises towards Cloud do count for your Designation points (like you mentioned, assuming they meet the eligibility criteria like revenue or MCV thresholds). The eligibility is for net new Cloud customers, so previously used on-premises software does not remove eligibility of the customer tenant.

Do note; while I'm not 100% sure this still applies, previous on-premises to cloud promotions (like CSP-EP or Bridge to Cloud) actually did NOT count as new Cloud customers, as this is a 'renew your on-premises in cloud' promotion and thus actually still counted as on-premises customers.

Also the question would be, how is the customer transacting their D365 licenses?

As CPOR for D365 only applies to EA customers, not for CSP customers. You're actually not able to submit a CPOR claim for CSP subscriptions: Incentives customer association issues - Partner Center | Microsoft Learn

Hey Martijn, thanks for your response.
I appreciate your clarity in your response, it is spot on, and I hope this will help others in our community 🙂 !!

Your comment "As CPOR for D365 only applies to EA customers, not for CSP customers." makes me thinking:
      * IF licences are NOT EA but CSP, how could I then get recognition for my deployment?
      * It almost sounds like I only get deployment recognition for EA-based license agreements? Reverse conclusion: IF it is CSP I cannot get recognition for deployments .....

Anytime RalfW, always happy to provide some insights 🙂 To answer your other questions real quick:

        • IF licences are NOT EA but CSP, how could I then get recognition for my deployment? = you won't....
        • It almost sounds like I only get deployment recognition for EA-based license agreements? = yes (and the new MCA-E agreement), or by transacting the licenses yourself thru CSP.
        • Reverse conclusion: IF it is CSP I cannot get recognition for deployments = not for D365 thru CPOR, correct... you can for M365 and PL

D365 CSP subscriptions are not eligible to submit a CPOR claim for. As far as I know, you won't see their CSP subscriptions in Partner Center when trying to create the CPOR claim.

  • Hi RalfW

Thank you for posting to the community.

    1. Are you a Solutions Partner?
    2. You stated that you've migrated from OnPrem (Dynamics CRM) into the cloud (D365 BizApps/Business Applications) & that you're seeking recognition for MAU growth.  Therefore, are you asking how to view customer success points earned from migration?  If so, for BizApps/Business applications, customer success points are awarded based on monthly consumption instead of monthly active users (MAU).
    3. Are you asking for a list of eligible deployments?

In order to best assist, would you mind clarifying the following questions please?

    • Would we additionally see the customer listed under deployment data as well?
    • OR not because we already did a deployment on prem, and a migration will not meet the "deployment" eligibility criteria?

      Hi team,
thanks for your response, much appreciated. Let me try to explain in a different way:

      * Our customer is using Dynamics CRM on prem
      * Customer now migrates to cloud
      * Could we submit a claim upon successful migration which is then counted towards our Customer Success - Deployment figures? IF YES, what do we need to submit ? (submit CPOR-OSU?).

Please ignore the MAU related part: If we submit a CPOR-OSU upon successful migration we will see the positive impact on the MAU numbers.

      We have two "internal opinions":
      (A) No, a migration will never be counted towards our partner deployment number.
      (B) Yes, a migration will be counted towards our deployment numbers (assuming all criteria are met like MCV).

PS: I am not asking how to view data. I am very aware of MCV, MAU differences etc. This is a "general question", therefore I added the comment that "all criteria are met, from MCV, Enterprise/SMB, workloads" etc etc etc - to make the answer easier and focus on the actual scenario.
Yes, we are a solution partner.
      • Hi RalfW

        1. OnPrem instances are not counted in the partner capability score, so a new cloud workload would appear as a new customer.
        2. Eligible association types can be found on the link in my previous reply, but I can confirm that D365 include CPOR RevRec, CPOR OSA, CPOR RevRec Performance, CSP Tiers 1 and 2, and Digital Partner of Record (DPOR) are eligible associations.
