Open in Outlook Button Inactive
I flag a lot of emails to follow up on in To Do. When I click on one of the tasks, I used to be able to click Open in Outlook on the right hand side pane, and it would open the email that was flagged.
I opened Outlook today and the Open in Outlook button is not working. I do not get the finger pointer when hovering over it, and when I click nothing happens. I tried closing / opening Outlook and rebooting.
- can confirm that this is fixed. Any links that were created while this was broken needs to be reset to work. You'll need to delete cache/all files from C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Wef to reset those links for Desktop

I found two work arounds.
if you have old outlook, click on View, then click Layout, and then To-Do Bar, then click Tasks.
all the flagged emails and to-do tasks will populate and you can double click on them to open the email.
OR
You can try the New Outlook and there is an email button for the To-Do items (which again, change the layout so that To-Do Bar is visible on the Inbox tab). If you click the To-Do module, it will go to the web version and that isn’t helpful.

Hi hqbae
Thanks for the work around. However I have become used to utilising the To Do app as a way to manage my workday tasks and having them listed in the mail side panels doesn't provide enough granularity (too many tasks) and I still have to find and open the task to read the associated email.
Microsoft have obviously changed a setting with their latest update and if they genuinely believe in the customer is right they need to change it back. The various responses to this chat indicate many people don't like the issue, the majority of users wont even bother reporting it .....
- TrevorT2095Copper ContributorYep. When I try to use the microsoft todo app on my macbook and I click "open in outlook" it gives me "The application can't be opened. -50"
When I click on "open in outlook" in todo in outlook app -- nothing happens.
This is critical to my workflow as well. - hjarmanCopper ContributorYep I have the same issue, reduces the efficiency of the app and incredibly frustrating.

I am also having the same issue.
- ProductiveTimeSaverCopper ContributorAnd just tried web version and link is inactive.
- ProductiveTimeSaverCopper ContributorI am having the same issue, and I depend on To-Do Outlook integration a lot. I do have a search folder with flagged E-mails that I can use as a workaround. But right now, if I click on the Outlook link, To-Do crashes.
- kinglauCopper ContributorI also asked the question here, hoping it gets answered from MS.
