Modern subsites?
All flavors of "Modern sites" that are created now are Site collections by definition with the top level site providing the "Modern" UI experience. I'm wondering what the future is for subsites in the "modern" experience? I know you can create a classic subsite and add modern pages to it, but that's not quite the same thing. And you don't get some of the modern features. E.g. you can't apply the modern themes to these sites from the Settings gear. I know a lot of organizations have made mistakes in trying to put all content in a single site collection, but I'm also wondering if having all sites in single-site site collections makes sense? Are Hubs enough to manage those? And what do we do with all the classic sites that are organized into subsite hierarchies? Does anyone know what the future is for the modern experience and subsites beyond Hubs?
SharePoint Modern Pages - remove white space
Hi All, With modern pages in SharePoint, there is always about 30-40% of the screen that is unused. There is no option to remove that space or the webparts do not span across the entire width as well. We have tried changing the section columns as well. Can anyone throw light on 1. How can we edit the styles on the modern pages? 2. Is Microsoft providing us some options to customize the pages on modern pages, if so by when? Thanks, Manoj
Custom New/Edit/Display forms with Modern Experience Lists
Hey all, I found a way to be able to customize the new, edit, and display forms for a list/library while still keeping the modern experience. I'm looking at customizing this form, but I was wondering if this is too hacky, and may lead to problems down the road. I feel like I may be missing something simple but I'm about to tear my hair out because I keep running into this and it is so irritating! I'm working in SharePoint Online using the modern experience, and I have a custom list with 15 fields. That's not a tremendous amount as lists go, but it can take some time to fill out a single entry. As I'm working in the "New Item" pop-out box, things generally seem to go along fine as long as I'm super careful never to move my mouse off that box. But if I click anywhere outside the dialog window, all my data is just gone, vanishes, poof, not saved. I've tried looking for it with Alt+Tab and Task Manager but no, that dialog is just gone. I've been experiencing this in IE and Chrome, not tried Firefox yet. Surely I'm not the only one experiencing this?
Modern Web Part - List Filters not applying
Hi All, I've been recently experiencing an issue with my modern webpages, where list preview webparts do not show filtered views. Instead, they are showing the default "all items" list view: (Web Part setting in page edit mode)- (List view with filtered view, showing filter itself is correct): I only saw one other thread describing a similar issue with a documents library view, but it had not conclusive solutions. I was wondering if anyone has any clue what this might be caused by. (Tried turning off adblocker, different web browsers, to no avail.)SharePoint Online Modern File Viewer web part & PowerPoint - Animation woes
Hello there, I'm responsible for technical training and SharePoint administration for my company. I have developed a training on some of our new Office 365 systems and I wanted to show my PowerPoint in a Modern Page on our intranet. However, my Animations do not seem to be supported. IT and Technical trainings can be a little dry and the animations are pretty critical. I have tried: Embedding the file instead of using the File Viewer web part Setting up a Slide Show and using that within both the File Viewer and the Embed web parts Is there any documentation that might explain why this might be happening?
Scoping of search in team site / communication sites
Hi! I am working on the modern search experience in sharepoint. One of the things that we have had some feedback on is the scoping of search when searching from a team site or a communication site. I would like to ask you what you think of the current experience and if / how you would like to have it. The idea is that when you do a search from the site we will surface the search results scoped to the site you have search from. You can then choose to upscope the search to all Sharepoint results by clicking the Sharepoint link in the search breadcrumb in the following picture. What do you think about this feature?
