tabs

Have you ever worked with a large number of tabs? It seems you have and the tab strip is usually completely overwhelmed with tabs as it is not able to fit all of them. In contrast to Firefox or Safari, Edge browser doesn't make the tab strip scrollable — tabs just keep getting smaller until the only favicon is visible. The most horrible thing is that rightmost tabs even start disappearing at some point. Edge tabs behave in a strange way Firefox tabs look okay Chrome tabs look okay However, recently Google has introduced a fix to this problem that makes the tab strip scrollable in Chrome, which makes it very easy to manage tons of tabs. Since Edge is a Chromium-based browser, this feature is hidden in MS Edge too. The only thing that is left is to add appropriate flags to enable it. This is a request to add the next options to edge://flags: 1. #scrollable-tabstrip - Tab Scrolling: Tabs do not shrink Tabs shrink to a large width Tabs shrink to a medium width Tabs shrink to a pinned tab width 2. #scrollable-tabstrip-buttons - Tab Scrolling Buttons These options will allow the Edge browser to fix a tab problem. To see how it works in Chrome: 1) go to chrome://flags 2) Search for flags #scrollable-tabstrip and #scrollable-tabstrip-buttons, and enable them. 3) Observe the behaviour of the tab strip.18KViews10likes6CommentsVertical Tabs look Good!
managed to get it on Edge Version 86.0.598.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) They are a little premature and basic, still need to evolve a lot. but for now the tab previews work, tab grouping and colors work and the main button for switching between horizontal/vertical view works. there is a big gap here which I don't understand why it's there. probably a placeholder for an upcoming feature. overall I like it and looking forward to a more evolved experience from vertical tabs soon.11KViews10likes63CommentsAsk Before Closing Multiple Tabs feature - Now Available
Microsoft Edge Version 89.0.739.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) The feature is behind a flag that you need to enable: edge://flags/#edge-ask-before-closing-multiple-tabs Ask Before Closing Multiple Tabs To prevent accidentally closing multiple tabs, the browser can prompt if you want to close all tabs. You can turn this setting on or off in Settings and more (…) > Settings > Appearance > Customize browser. – Mac, Windows, Linux as the flag description says, head over to the edge://settings/appearance and toggle that button11KViews9likes24CommentsAwesome New Feature: Vertical tabs now Hide Title Bar
Vertical Tabs: Horizontal Tabs: Microsoft Edge Version 91.0.825.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) You need to enable this new flag: edge://flags/#edge-vertical-tabs-hide-titlebar Thanks for listening to feedbacks and implementing this.5.4KViews8likes4CommentsFinally here! the Real Full Screen Experience in Edge insider Browser
Now if you go to full screen mode, by either pressing F11 on keyboard or this button you will see the tabs and address bar in a drop down fashion, just like in Edge classic. to do that, first you have to be on the latest version of Edge insider Canary which is Version 80.0.335.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) then you have to go to: edge://flags/ and enable this flag Enable Fullscreen Dropdown Drops down browser frame during browser fullscreen. – Windows #edge-enable-shy-ui That's it. it was requested multiple times on the forum and I was looking for this functionality as well. Google chrome (even the latest canary version) still doesn't have this useful functionality.26KViews6likes33CommentsHow to refresh all tabs or some tabs at the same time and do other bulk actions
How to refresh all tabs or some tabs at the same time how to select multiple tabs or all tabs and do bulk actions on them (refresh, add to group, add to favorites, mute, duplicate etc) watch this video: (recorded in 1080p, 60FPS, MKV): https://streamable.com/qdb1s you can select multiple tabs by holding CTRL and click on tabs to select them individually. another easier way is this: for example you have 10 tabs open and you want to select all of them at once, move your mouse pointer to the right most tab, hold CTRL + SHIFT and then click on it, you will see all of the tabs, from left to right, are selected. last example: you have 10 tabs open, you want to only select tabs from #3 to #8. you move your mouse cursor to tab #3, hold CTRL and then click on it, next you move your mouse cursor to tab #8, hold CTRL + SHIFT and click on it, you'll see now you've selected only tabs from #3 to #8 (i.e tabs #1, #2, #9, #10 are Not selected).38KViews5likes3CommentsSlow tab closing
When I try to close tabs when other tabs are still loading there is a noticeable delay between when I hit Ctrl+w/ click x and when the tab closes. From what I can tell it seems that closing a tab requires cpu and when usage is high, it has to wait for space to open up. Has anyone else noticed this issue or have any solutions?4.3KViews4likes4CommentsCollections UI
Hey All, I like the idea of Collections a lot because it can group my most important pages. That said, I've got a few suggestions and would like to hear thoughts: The panel itself is too wide, especially since it's width is not adjustable. Not only would I like it to be adjustable, it would be nice if it collapsed into a bar, that would then expand when I put my mouse over it. Otherwise it doesn't feel like a tool I'd easily use all day, every day. The size if the page entries within it are huge. I'd like to be able to make them smaller so, should I add a bunch of them, I wouldn't have to scroll so much. It would be nice if you could assign a color to a Collection that would fill the background of it when it expands, which then also becomes the color of the tab itself when you open the page, so you have a visual cue as to where it came from. I'd like to be able to set pages within a collection to always open pinned. That's it for now. The Chromium-based Edge is really great, and I love using it. Thanks, Scott2.5KViews4likes19CommentsThe new Tab preview in Edge canary is Not what I expected - it's straight up copy of chrome
That, which can be enabled by this flag: edge://flags/#tab-hover-card-images (Edge Canary 86.0.598.0) adds tab previews under each tab just like chrome. I hope this is not the way Microsoft wants to implement tab previews because it's exact copy of chrome. Edge legacy's tab previews are a lot better and look nicer. you could preview the tabs at the top or at the bottom on hover, you could have a whole strip dedicated for tab previews at the top of the tabs.1.6KViews3likes3Comments
