When is Microsoft going to bring Microsoft Authenticator windows aka desktop or within edge itself? (People like me lose mobiles) Isn't Windows device considered anything? Only mobiles and android and iOS devices matter? People like don't store important info on Windows devices? Edge has support for in-built password manager like chrome with chrome and google passwords then why is edge not having 2fa support on windows yet in 2024? Is windows still usable if my phones goes for service center, dies randomly, or is stolen? Can I consider windows devices to be of valuable in 2024 or should I shift 100 percent to android and MacOS and ios? Should I throw my windows devices out of window since it is not dependent device when any other fails? On a sidenote, I tried checking out but WinAuth Authenticator exists for Windows PC is open-source & offers 2-step verification (but unfortunately not updated since 2016) so why Microsoft which focuses so much of AI of everything has been able to bring desktop version for windows users? Or am I asking too much in the name of security and privacy that big tech promotes all the time? Can we trust microsoft and windows devices? Or is everything going to be done by google and chrome?1.5KViews0likes2CommentsWindows Desktop - New Folder Type Feature
I'd love to see a new desktop icon/folder feature. Adding a specific type of New Folder that will only be displayed on your main/primary display desktop. The folder would always be visible on the main display and contain the icons that show up on all external monitors that are not flagged as the main display. That way, when a laptop isn't connected to an external monitor, those sets of icons are quickly accessible via the special desktop folder on your main display. You would no longer have a flood of icons when using only the laptop and when docked you have them at their normal positions.305Views0likes0CommentsIntune installed desktop shortcut needs to be removed
I created a desktop shortcut via intune windows app (win 32). Here is my script New-Item -Path "c:" -Name "mem" -ItemType "directory" -Force Copy-Item "S:\Shortcuts\UKG.ico" -Destination "c:\mem\UKG.ico" $Shell = New-Object -ComObject ("WScript.Shell") $ShortCut = $Shell.CreateShortcut("C:\users\public\desktop\UKG.lnk") $ShortCut.TargetPath="-------------------------------------" $Shortcut.Arguments="------------------------------------" $ShortCut.IconLocation = "c:\mem\UKG.ico"; $ShortCut.Description = "UKG Shortcut"; $ShortCut.Save() (I replaced the path with ————————) The app works fine and copies the ico file from a network share and places it on the c drive in a folder it creates named mem. Now after creating the shortcut they have decided to use SSO which is a new address. I need to delete the ico file in the mem folder and remove the desktop shortcut. I created a simple script. $ShortcutFile = "$env:Public\Desktop\UKG.lnk" if (Test-Path $ShortcutFile){ Remove-Item $ShortcutFile } else { Write-Output "Shortcut Not Found" } To just delete the shortcut. When I run the script as an admin in powershell it works just fine. If I try and run the script in a normal powershell it fails and says it doesn't have access to the public desktop. I ran the file in Intune as just a script and it fails. I converted it to an intunewin file and added it as an intune windows app (win 32). It successfuly runs on all my pcs but does not remove the icon. I'm at a loss and I really need to remove this icon so I can push the new one. Any suggestions on how to remove it via a script or app? I've checked into remediation scripts but that isn't going to be an option for now.Solved5.3KViews0likes23CommentsSystem Tray Mute during Meeting -- New Teams on Desktop
When I switch to the new Teams, I seem to lose the ability to mute the mic via the system tray during a meeting. Is there any way to regain this ability within the new Teams app? Currently I just revert to the old Teams. I find the system tray control very useful to retain control while working on other virtual desktops during meetings. Thanks, Jonah1.5KViews0likes1Comment
