When a user is disabled in Entra ID, I normally MANUALLY copy / delete the files to another OneDrive For Business account, often their manager. I use a 3rd party tool to copy from the disabled use account. Iam a Global Admin and I also have the SharePoint Admin Role. I often find that their data to be large and it takes a LONG time. I tried to do a Power Automate workflow yet I am a sys admin and not a developer so I get confused quickly with code. How are people handling requests to move data to another OneDrive for Business account from a disabled one to an enabled one? I worry about synchronizing it with OneDrive on my local laptop and then trying to MOVE. I don't know if that will ever work or if it will COPY instead of MOVE.56Views1like3CommentsUrgent Complaint – OneDrive Disrupted My Local Files and Workflow
Dear Microsoft Support Team, I am writing to formally express my deep frustration with how OneDrive disrupted my workflow and caused significant inconvenience. I never expected a simple cloud storage service to override my local files and create such a chaotic situation without my explicit permission. The Problem Without my consent, OneDrive moved my local files into the cloud, making them unavailable offline and disrupting the entire file structure on my computer. I had no idea where my documents were stored, leading to confusion and anxiety. Additionally, this unexpected synchronization slowed down my computer considerably, making it almost unusable while it processed thousands of files. This was an unnecessary burden, especially considering that I never intended for OneDrive to take control over my local data. Time and Financial Loss The impact of this issue has been severe: Countless hours wasted trying to understand what had happened to my files. Increased anxiety due to the fear of losing critical documents. Technical support costs incurred to troubleshoot and restore my system. Productivity loss while waiting for the computer to finish syncing thousands of files I never asked to be moved. Request for Change A service like OneDrive should never move local files without explicit user approval. The default behavior should be copying files to the cloud, not transferring them away from the local device. I urge Microsoft to: Ensure OneDrive does not alter local files without user confirmation. Provide a clearer setup process that allows users to choose exactly how their files are managed. Make the reversal of such changes easier, as restoring files to their original location is currently a tedious process. This issue has caused me considerable stress, financial loss, and wasted time, and I expect Microsoft to address this matter seriously. I appreciate your time in reviewing this complaint and would like to hear how Microsoft plans to improve this aspect of OneDrive. Sincerely, Leonardo99Views2likes3CommentsUnlink OneDrive folder in Windows 10
Hello I have problem with OneDrive. User is not signed in OneDrive but the folder 'C:\Users\%username%\OneDrive - My Org' exist and you can browse all file names and open files which are cached locally. I have found out that you can clear saved user credentials by deleteing this json file (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/clear-onedrive-cached-credentials-5b7d944e-89ce-4fbd-812c-a1d93645cfd1) but this does not help because the user is not logged in OneDrive. del /q /f "%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneDrive\settings\PreSignInSettingsConfig.json" In this document https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/troubleshoot/sync/onedrive-local-folder-name-not-updated it's guided to unlink the user account from OneDrive Settings but this cannot be done because user is not logged in OneDrive. I have also deleted this reg key as suggested in the document but this this did not help. reg delete "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\OneDrive" /f 2>nul Only solution so far have been backing up all files, then removing the whole user profile but this is not practical. I would like to unlink the OneDrive by using PowerShell or a batch file.116Views0likes1CommentOnedrive and Prevent access to drives policy
I am working with clients that have enabled a group policy "Prevent access to drives from My Computer" as part of their security hardening process. This prevents them from accessing their OneDrive folder. The following article describes a workaround, but it results in a less secure setup. https://james-rankin.com/videos/using-onedrive-sync-client-with-c-drive-restrictions-and-a-bunch-of-handy-security-tips-too/ Has anyone solved this issue in the 4 years since this article? I've posted a suggestion to the OneDrive Feedback portal - https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/fd351968-79b0-ef11-95f5-6045bdbc7c3992Views0likes0CommentsPublic Storage Best Practice
Hi, I have a tenant of 15 Office 365 users with varied licenses and have a need to share files like email signatures, sales brochures and product images. No downloads, no uploads, read only. We also use Power Platform heavily and a Sharepoint site that is for internal use only. Looks like One Drive is the best solution but Im not sure how to set up. Does it need to be set up under a user? Or can I just have some generic non user specific setup? Or would a Sharepoint Document Library be a better approach? Any other thoughts, ideas are also greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Gracias y saludos40Views0likes0Comments
