location

This is probably a Windows 10 API problem not an Edge issue, but geolocation is wrong - usually really, really wrong - in Edge... while Chrome gets my location dead-on. On the same computer. At the same time. Before we get into any 101 fixes - I deal with location tech in my job, and I know W10 well enough to know how to correctly configure my country, and clear my location. This is a problem that exists on fresh installs of W10 and Edge. I can send some screenshots to engineers who may be lurking. The distance off is around 500 miles or so. It is locating me in a place that I've never visited. This has been a problem for years and a few (Google) searches shows that it pops up in the Feedback Hub, the user forums and other places every now and then, with no fix. I really want to use Edge. But correct geolocation is so fundamental to everything associated with search-based services today, and it gets old getting recommendations to walk down the street to a store that is 500 miles away.34KViews4likes16CommentsLet us Choose Download Location For each File Type separately in Edge insider browser
Here are the file types Edge insider browser currently recognizes in downloads My suggestion is to let us choose a separate Download location for each file type. Because: I usually download games or movies (compressed files for games and video files for movies/series) that are big (>10GB) and in multiple parts. I want them to be saved on somewhere else other than C drive, such as my HDD drive for archieve. I want PDF files to be automatically saved in Documents folder/PDF. I want downloaded Image file be saved in my OneDrive/Pictures folder so they get automatically synced and uploaded to my OneDrive cloud space. I want Audio files be saved in a Different folder where my music player program and Spotify watch those folders for music files (MP3, AAC etc). I want unknown files (files with extensions other than those mentioned above) to be saved in the default download location so I can decide what to do with them later. I want .exe files (programs) to be automatically saved in a different partition where the rest of my programs are. And so on. there is currently one global download location having to choose a download location and browse for a folder for each of them every time is not convenient, so, Please Let us Choose Download Location For each File Type separately in Edge insider browser. also let Edge insider Sync these download location settings with cloud so Users won't have to apply all of these modifications Again after reinstalling browser or OS change, etc. Thanks6.5KViews16likes5CommentsLocate Android fully managed

Can anyone tell me how to Stop Bing from changing my location and country when I connect to VPN? it's frustrating when Bing shows me non-English search result.. I might use for example a French VPN (IP) but that doesn't mean I can read French too.2.7KViews0likes11CommentsMystery of the Exchange Room accounts in Teams
Hi, Anybody have better understanding why the calendar(mailbox) with following details: ResourceType : Room RecipientTypeDetails : RoomMailbox does not appear into Teams meeting booking under the location? There was also an article from Ali about this: Creating Room List to add Location in Teams Calendar and he is saying: "Sometimes when we create a Room Mailbox in Exchange Online it does not appear under the “Add location” section of the MS Team". Is it really the Room list only option to get rooms visible on Teams? When scheduling meeting on Outlook/OWA the rooms are available just normally. Even Outlook and Teams are different products, I still wish to see that basic features should be working equally.1.7KViews0likes3CommentsWindows device location wrong after moving
We moved a year ago to new state 600 miles away, but all our Windows 10 and 11 devices continue to report our old house as our location. We have a new ISP and a wildly different public IP, so Windows is not pulling it from that. We have a new cable modem with the new ISP, but kept our mesh system, so the router is the same. All services that use location are affected, including maps, weather, and Find My Device. Third party services are also affected: if I go to maps.google.com it will also show my old house and says that location is "from your device." I'm convinced this is because somewhere that location is tied to my router's MAC address (or possibly my SSID). I've read that Windows always uses your public IP for location (which is obviously not true) and that it uses adjacent WiFi SSIDs for location (which must also not be true, since my whole neighborhood didn't move with me and buy houses in the same relative locations). I've set default location to my new house in the maps app, but it still goes straight to my old house, 600 miles away. I've seen other people with this issue who moved across town and kept their ISP, and they haven't found resolution, either. I've reported this as a bug through the Feedback tool. I haven't heard anything back. Someone in another forum for Chromebook devices said they had the same issue, but hoped it would eventually resolve because the Google street view cars also log WiFi networks (Google goes around wardriving?) and eventually they'd be found. I don't know if that's true or not, but it's pretty nonsensical. Do we really have to wait months or years after moving house for this to update? There's a ten year old subdivision not far from me that street view hasn't made it to yet. In the meantime, all location-based services on our Windows devices, including Find My Device, are beyond useless. God forbid I did lose my laptop; if a neighbor had it, it would still see my WiFi and report it was 600 miles away.1.6KViews0likes1CommentHybrid Teams Meeting Location Not Updating/ Displaying both locations
Sometimes when I schedule hybrid meetings in Outlook (Attendees can join through MsTeams or onsite in a meeting room) using the room finder tool, even when I get confirmation that the resource/meeting room is accepted as reserved, I run into these issues: 1. The onsite meeting room added shows as invited under "required", but is not listed under "location" and I have no drop down options to add it. 2. The location field updates to including both MsTeams and the booked meeting room and both can be seen when you open the invitation: but in calendar/week view only the MsTeams option shows as location: Instead of like this: It happens randomly and only on occasion, but it prevents invitees from knowing there is a room booked they can join if onsite so I'm hoping to find a solution to make sure both locations show from now on.1.1KViews0likes2Comments
