Introduce use of paths and wildcards in Edge automatic profile switching
Having users with work accounts in different tenants I like to opt for the following feature requests on the automatic profile switching list in Edge: Give users the ability to use wildcards for website hosts. Any host within a domain will open the selected profile so it is not necessary to create and manage multiple websites on that list On the list allow paths in the website like login.microsoftonline.com/{tenantId} to automatically switch to the profile of the user that the tenant belongs toMarcel_SniederOct 16, 2024Copper Contributor201Views0likes0CommentsUsing FIDO2 with NFC Smartcards in Edge on Debian (this is a Linux distribution)
Some administrators prefer using Linux, Debian in this case. They are required to perform certain tasks on Microsoft's admin portals for Azure and M365, where 2FA is strictly enforced without exceptions. I experimented a bit but couldn't get it to work in Edge on Debian - the option to choose FIDO2 doesn't even appear. In Firefox on Debian, at least the option to choose FIDO2 is available in the login dialog. I'm using other apps on the same machine with NFC smart cards - everything works, but not Edge and Microsoft Entra. I found an article including compatibility tables for FIDO2 authentication with Microsoft Entra ID - Support for FIDO2 authentication with Microsoft Entra ID - Microsoft Entra ID | Microsoft Learn. Does anyone have an idea why Entra is generally only supported in Chrome on Linux and not in Edge? Any insights on NFC support for FIDO on Linux, feature timeline?Dennis-ScherrerSep 02, 2024Brass Contributor296Views0likes0CommentsEdge Sync is not available for this account.
My Edge is saying "sync isn't available for this account" and it links me to this article. Configure Microsoft Edge enterprise sync | Microsoft Learn I'm on Microsoft 365 Business Basic and it clearly says it is supported in the article, but also says: "Business Basic is supported, but some existing tenants need to be backfilled with the RMS_S_BASIC service plan needed by AIP. Customers can file a support request if they need to backfill a tenant." So, I open a ticket with Office365 and for some reason get an exchange engineer who clearly has no idea what is going on even though I linked him to the article. He points to: https://support.serviceshub.microsoft.com/supportforbusiness/create Now I have pay through the nose for support contract just to fix an Edge sync issue. Someone help me please 😞Knocturnal_MonkeyFeb 04, 2023Copper Contributor1.9KViews0likes0CommentsKiosk Mode - Single App Setup
I'm trying to set up a Kiosk that opens Edge and so far so good. Unfortunately, within Edge, the users are taken to an rdweb page. I then want them to be able to log in to one of the Remote Desktops, or used a Published app. I've changed the registry to allow Edge to download the .rdp files, but they're unable to run. I don't have an InTune system setup, so I can't use MDM and this is on a Windows 10 (22H2) Desktop. I've seen in the registry for the Kiosk account, there is a string for "IsSingleApp" (or similar) and then there's a subkey for App0. Would it work to change the above string to 0 and add in a new key for App1 to permit mstsc.exe to run? Or can someone suggest another method? Thanks.SchnickV4Feb 01, 2023Copper Contributor621Views0likes0CommentsPopupsAllowedForUrls and possible security issues
Hello everyone, I am writing here because I am searching for some information regarding the PopupsAllowedForUrls policy, which allows particular websites to open popup windows without user consent. The context is the following: we are developing an Outlook Add-in for internal use, and we would like the add-in to open a popup window when the user clicks on a button. The popup window will perform some operation and show a recap to the user. So, we configured the PopupsAllowedForUrls Group Policy on our Domain Controllers and we verified that it actually works, users can now use the Outlook add-in without receiving a "popup blocked" warning and the popup appears exactly as we want. Now, my questions are security related, and in particular we would like to know if enabling that policy may pose a security risk or may allow the unintentional opening of malicious popups by a careless user, and if generally there are any counterindications of using such policy. Our concern is, in fact, that another malicious add-in or attachment may take advantage of said policy allowing other popups to be opened by outlook.office.com, other than the one we want. Do you think it could be a possibility? It would be great to be able to specify which websites can actually be opened in a new popup, but I couldn't find anything related to that. I hope that someone with more knowledge on this matter will be able to help. Thanks in advance, have a lovely evening! Hi there, I work for a retail e-commerce brand that constantly has discount codes leaked from closed affiliate networks onto Edge Shopping discount finder. Of which, there is no contact for us to get in touch with to ensure they are removed. Has anyone else had any contact with someone at Microsoft/Edge/Bing that can help me get these codes removed? I would prefer to keep the information about the brand private, and not in this forum - hence needing a contact. Thanks, JamesjamesarbuckleAug 16, 2022Copper Contributor1.1KViews0likes0Comments
