Best method for configuring EDGE in Enterprise
Hi, we are a large company almost 10.000 devices. Edge is now configured via group policy, but many legacy settings so cleanup and re-engineering is needed. In that context, we also want to switch to a modern configuration method for EDGE. 'Edge Management Service' is modern/cloud way to configure but lacks reporting and diag tools, while Intune Settings Catalog has reporting but may lack settings for CoPilot and other new features. In a hybrid joined or Entra-ID joined scenario, what is the Best Practice for configuring Microsoft Edge taking into account control, reporting and diagnostics ?VanakenJFeb 21, 2025Brass Contributor62Views0likes1CommentMachine learning powered autofill suggestions
Hello, It looks like a new Machine Learning autofill feature was rolled out with Edge 132 and enabled by default. There is a bug with this setting where even if you have the parent "Save and fill basic info" setting disabled, the Machine Learning suggestions still appear even though the setting is grayed out. This leads to a confusing user experience, because folks that work in enterprise forms with PII try to disable their autofill, only for the feature to remain active. The workaround to disable this feature is to re-enable Autofill, turn of ML suggestions, then disable Autofill again. It looks like there is an enterprise policy to control this setting rolled out on January 17 with Edge 132.0.2957.115. However, I do not see this setting in Intune's Settings Catalog. We are trying to manage in the cloud and avoid creating any more group policies. Is anyone aware of an ETA for this to be added to Settings Catalog? I'd prefer not to set up a Remediation or ADMX CP only for the setting to become available shortly thereafter. Thanks! Hello Team, I am currently developing an extension and integrating policies. I have created a managed_schema for the extension. When I load the unpacked extension in Chrome, the properties appear in chrome://policy as expected. However, in Microsoft Edge, the policies do not appear in edge://policy. I have not found any documentation addressing this issue. Could someone please provide guidance on this discrepancy? Thank you.sangeetha123Feb 06, 2025Copper Contributor47Views0likes2CommentsConfigure 3rd party Edge Extensions
Hi, Browser extension have the possibility to be configured through registry settings via: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge\3rdparty\extensions\<extension_id>\policy\environment When a extension is added via the Edge Management Service the policy source is "Cloud", instead of "Platform". So the settings that are configured trough above registry location are not being applied to the extension. Is there a way to apply extension configuration via the Edge Management Service? Or is there a location where the "Cloud" policies are written in the registry? Hi, When I create a configuration profile in the Edge Management Service to force install specific browser extensions it is possible to create specific profiles for specific users groups. But when a user is in multiple user groups only the highest prioritized profile wins. There is no possibility to "stack" profiles at the moment, so extensions must be published to everyone when you want to force multiple extensions. It would be great when you get the possibly to for example: User 1 -> Group 1 -> Configuration Profile 1 -> Extension 1 User 2 -> Group 2 -> Configuration Profile 1 -> Extension 2 User 2 -> Group 1 and 2 -> Configuration Profile 1 -> Extension 1 and 2 User 3 -> Group 1 and 3 -> Configuration Profile 1and 2 -> Extension 1 and 4 There is no such way via GPO or Intune also at the moment, but with a multi user operation system in mind this would be much appreciated. Recent upgrade from server2016 to 22, When logged in as admin, edge edge://compat/iediagnostic shows IE working and API ver19 When logged in as non admin user, same server, different session, it shows IE not working, and ver13. IE crashes and says reinstall as admin. Reinstalling edge as admin seems to temporarily fix it, I can log in as non admin, and it shows ver19 and IE works, but then its like it updates something, because it reverts to ver13 and IE crashes again... I have set GP to use IE mode, and set siteslist for IE and Edge GPs, reinstalled edge many times, can not seem to fix this.PhilgJan 17, 2025Copper Contributor60Views0likes1CommentEdge Branding and OneDrive Client Sync App Support
I'm trying to configure Edge branding using the Edge Management Service. From the guide here Organization branding | Microsoft Learn it states: Are there any scenarios where organization branding can't be used? Yes, organization branding isn't supported for the following scenarios. Organization branding isn't applied if: OneDrive desktop sync is enabled. The OneDrive policy to exclude specific kinds of files from being uploaded is disabled. We have OneDrive client app installed on all our desktops. It's not clear to me why this would make this feature not supported. Any ideas/information on this?shockotechcomNov 15, 2024Iron Contributor40Views0likes1CommentEdge Branding - Company Color Configuration
I'm looking to configure organisational branding in Edge 130+. We already have a custom branding profile configured in EntraID. To date we have configured Edge using group policy. When we configure the policy OrganizationalBrandingOnWorkProfileUIEnabled we get our EntraID tenant/organisation name displayed on the profile pill and company logo as expected but we do not get the company color but rather a black color as follows: Where is the company color configured i.e. what aspect of Entra Branding does it correspond to?shockotechcomNov 15, 2024Iron Contributor236Views0likes4CommentsEdge prompts users that it is out of date when a target version is set in Intune
Hello, We are using the target channel override and target version policies in Intune to control when our users receive Edge updates. Our target version is currently 128.0.2739.42. Despite this, Edge is showing an update notification to our users. When they click on it in the menu, they get a message that says "Microsoft Edge couldn't update to the latest version, so you're missing out on new features and security fixes." I looked through the log for Microsoft Edge Update, and at no point did it try to download and install a new Edge version. The only update it performed was for WebView2. I found this thread: Edge UpdatePolicy - Disable automatic updates leads to "Microsoft Edge is out of Date" - Microsoft Community Hub However, this registry value is set to INBX (Inbox, I guess?) in our environment. I couldn't find any documentation about what this means. I tried changing this to GCEU as described in the thread, but this did not change the behavior long term. The message initially goes away after a restart, but comes back some time later. We are intentionally controlling our update rollouts and do not want our users knowing or caring Edge is out of date. Does anyone know how to suppress these warnings? This kind of seems like a bug. Thanks! Having users with work accounts in different tenants I like to opt for the following feature requests on the automatic profile switching list in Edge: Give users the ability to use wildcards for website hosts. Any host within a domain will open the selected profile so it is not necessary to create and manage multiple websites on that list On the list allow paths in the website like login.microsoftonline.com/{tenantId} to automatically switch to the profile of the user that the tenant belongs toMarcel_SniederOct 16, 2024Copper Contributor201Views0likes0Comments
