Cannot Release Lock on SharePoint Online File
SharePoint thinks a user still has a lock on. I can't adminsitratively do anything with the file online. This has been going on for almost a day. We've cleared cache, closed Excel on his computer, cleared out some local cashe directories, rebooted, etc. Nothing is clearing up this lock. All I want to do is delete the file at this point, and I can't even do that. What are my options as a Global Admin?Solved657KViews4likes96CommentsImport excel into existing list (with data already in it)
Hi, Is it possible to import data from an excel sheet into a SharePoint list that already contains data in it? Basically I just want to add to the list that's already in SharePoint without overwriting the existing lines or having to create a new list each time. Thanks!Solved585KViews1like52CommentsCan I install Visual Studio Code on an iPad ?

Hello, I've been searching to see if this is possible but it appears with the modern experience, you can only copy a site page to the same Site Pages library in the same site. If I switch my view to Classic Experience, I can copy a site page to another site if I put in the URL path to the other site's Site Pages library. Does anyone know if this will be available in the modern experience? We have to use ShareGate currently to copy modern pages from one site to another but we would like to have the ability to do this in the SharePoint UI. We would like to see some kind of preference that a user can set to open files from SharePoint directely in the Office Apps instead of Office Online when clicking on them. This saves an extra click, and makes that SharePoint isn't showing many tabs for all opened documents (and next to that our users prefer to working in the Office Apps).Solved332KViews2likes27CommentsAuto-Increment Number Field in a SharePoint List
I need to create an auto-increment field with a standard amount of digits. The format needs to be like this T000001, T000002, T000003, ......T000010, etc (7 Digits). When it gets to the 10th record it should not do this T0000010 (8 digits). I tried using the popular, often referenced solution (link below). This method does not work as I hoped. If you put it in a format like this T1000, when it gets to the 10th item it does this T100010 rather than T10010. Here is the popular solution I already tried: https://www.epmpartners.com.au/blog/how-to-create-an-auto-incrementing-number-field-in-a-sharepoint-list/Solved331KViews1like26CommentsE-mail from no-reply@sharepointonline.com
Hi In this quite "new" blog: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/skywriter/2017/02/13/office-365-weekly-digest-2017-06/ It's written "We're updating the OneDrive for Business Internal Sharing Mails. Mails sent from sharing documents from OneDrive for Business to internal users will have a new modern look that provides more information to the recipient as to what's being shared at a glance. At this time these mails will no longer be CC'd to the original sender. We will be replacing this behavior by sending these mails from the original sender's mailbox (as opposed to a no-reply address) in the near future." I like this :) I also would like to have this behavior on mail's sendt from SharePoint Online (no-reply@sharepointonline.com), when files in document librarys are shared. Do anyone know if it's any plan to move in that direction? Br. RuneSolved287KViews0likes8CommentsDesktop Shortcut to Sharepoint Files
Hi, I currently have a lot of users sharing a small excel file which is currently over OneDrive but im seeing a few minor teething issues with so many people connected (<15 people). The file itself is stored on sharepoint.com site and so I wondered if its possible to directly open this file with the desktop app? The problem im experiencing is, I can browse the folder structure and open this in Windows explorer, however if I close the webpage down it appears to drop the credientials and the location is no longer available through windows explorer. I've tried desktop shortcuts directly to the file, to the parent folder but all drop the access once the webpage is closed. Is there another way of achieving this? I really wanted to strip out any middle software such as OneDrive or Teams and just go straight to the Sharepoint File. Some, but not all of my SharePoint Forms that are built using PowerApps are getting stuck saying (Getting your data...". The strange thing is that sometimes the data will load then this will happen, or I can click out of the form and reopen it and then it will work. Anyone experiencing a similar issue?253KViews0likes54CommentsExternal Sharing to Non-Microsoft accounts
Is it possible to share files to people without having them create a Microsoft account yet? I'm sure I read a blog post saying there was to be an update to external sharing where people would receive a token number to enter, rather than having to create a MS account. From Office 365 admin center i created a new MS Teams, which have created a new Office 365 group + SharePoint Modern Team site. Also when i added members to the Office 365 group, the new MS Teams appeared inside the users' Teams desktop application. Now there are 2 ways to add conversations to the MS Teams:- 1. using the desktop application as follow:- 2. OR using the Conversation inside the sharepoint team sites >> which will actually open the users' outlook, as follow:- So my question is what are the differences between adding the conversation using outlook or using desktop application, as adding conversation using one method will not show it inside the other, for example i added a conversation using the desktop application, but it did not show inside the users' outlook accounts, while it showed inside the users' desktop applications....Solved224KViews0likes14CommentsHow To Add A Calendar To A SharePoint Online Site
This Sharepoint tutorial will demonstrate how you can add a calendar to a SharePoint Online site. The approach used in this tutorial creates a Sharepoint List and applies a calendar view to it. The list can then be added to pages on the Sharepoint Online site and can also be added to channels in Microsoft Teams. One major limitation with this approach is that the calendar cannot be synchronized with Microsoft Outlook as with the legacy calendar webpart. We are happy to announce a new feature in SharePoint called "Request sign-off". The goal is to provide you an easy way to send an item for approval to someone else. This feature enables an open approval process that allows you to easily record whether or not a document or list item was approved or not. There is no setup required. Request sign-off makes use of SharePoint's integration with Microsoft Flow. You can use it by selecting a file or list item (but not a folder), and then pulling down the Flow menu in the modern library or list UI, and selecting "Request sign-off". This flow will appear alongside any other custom flow that you or others may have added to the library. Once it is invoked, Request sign-off will create a new text column in your library called "Sign-off status". This column will record the state of your request. It works just like any other text column, you can sort, filter or group by it to organize your library. On invocation, this will tell you that it will send an approval request on your behalf, and ask your consent. Once this is provided, you can pick one or more approvers, and write a message to them for your approval request. If you add more than one approver, any one of them can approve your request: The person you sent the approval to will receive an approval request. This will be an actionable message on clients that support it (meaning you can approve it directly from within Outlook). The approver can also provide some comments along with their decision. There will also be a link included that lets the approver view the item in question: The sign-off status column is then updated with the decision, and the person who sent the approval request will receive an email with the comments: By saving you the trouble of setting up a flow and creating a new column to track status, we hope that this feature will make it easy to add a lightweight approval process to your libraries and lists. We expect this feature to start rolling out to our customers in targeted release (previously called first release) after April 9. Barring any issues we will continue to roll it out to the rest of our customers in two phases late April and early May.Custom/Vanity domain name/URL for Sharepoint Online

I'm having an issue regarding Office 365 profile pictures not displaying on the Modern SharePoint People Web Part inside Office 365. We have this issue seen in two separate Office 365 tenants, both located in Europe. One tenant is Cloud only, so it's not connected via Azure AD Connect. The other tenant is using federated accounts and has both Azure AD Connect and ADFS implemented. Behavior summary: Profile picture displayed in Office 365 Suite Bar: Yes Profile picture displayed in Office Delve: Yes Profile picture displayed in Outlook on the Web: Yes Profile picture displayed in Microsoft Teams: Yes Profile picture displayed in SharePoint People Web Part on a Modern SharePoint Page: No, although we would expect the picture also to be displayed there. Detailed behavior When the profile picture is set in Office 365, it is shown in all Office 365 Apps, except inside the SharePoint People Web Part on a Modern SharePoint Site Page. When I remove the picture using the Change Picture link inside the Office 365 Suite Bar, or remove it via Microsoft Teams and later change it to a different picture, we run into the same scenario: The picture is shown everywhere in Office 365, except inside the SharePoint People Web Part located on a Modern SharePoint Site Page. See the attached pictures displaying the issue. More people of you seen this issue? Do you know a workaround or do you know how to fix this?Solved196KViews19likes71Comments
