Hide the +Add Column from SharePoint Library view
Does anyone know if there's a way to completely hide the +Add Column button from a Library view? My users have Contribute access (cannot go any lower as they need to work with the library, adding and editing) and I can see if takes away their ability to create new columns - which is great. However, to avoid confusion (and them changing the view and then losing it when navigating away) I really want to just take it away altogether. Is there a way to do this? With JSON on view formatting perhaps?Solved51Views0likes2CommentsUploading, playing and Sharing MP3's
Hi, Was wondering if any can assist. A team want to upload MP3's from OneDrive accounts. They seem to be having issues with syncing The files are received via Email in MP4 format and saved in a SP folder It is converted to an MP3 and saved in the same folder. Another case handler may then try to access the MP3 for typing (importing it in to Speech Exec) and it does not appear in the SharePoint folder. This person then has to access the original email, save the MP4 and convert to MP3 themselves in order to access it. This has to be done by each employee who needs to type. This can be up to 4 different people. The users who need to play these have the permission of Edit and Is there a simpler way to make these accessible?? We have a document library with a folder structure and users have different permissions on each top level folder using SharePoint groups. For example, the library has folders A, B, and C. User X belongs to SharePoint group G. Group G has Contribute permission on folder B, and no permission on folders A and C. The user doesn't even see folders A and C. User X wants to set an alert on folder B to get an alert on any change, but the user is getting an Access Denied error saving the alert. The Contribute permission level allows alerts, so why would that be happening?Solved49Views0likes2CommentsBuilt-in "People" Term Group, how values are been populated and can we use it inside SharePoint
Inside any SharePoint online we have a term group named "People", and each tenant will have different values under the term sets, here are the values from one tenant:- and on my test tenant where i only have one user with "Software Develop" title, i got those values:- so I have those 3 questions, regarding this "People" term group:- How those values/terms are been populated? automatically from AD, based on the users' profiles? Also can/should we modify the underlying terms manually? for example add new department such as All, or delete existing job title? or we only should keep this been managed automatically ? Also inside a site collection, we need to tag different documents with departments. and to do so, we want to create a managed metadata column, so should we link this managed metadata column to the built-in Department term set? or create out own term set to store the departments manually? Can anyone advice on those 3 questions please?Solved68Views0likes4CommentsSharePoint Group - Access Denied
I created a additional SharePoint Groups in a site and added a user. I set the SP Group as Read at the site level, but Contribute in certain libraries. User is receiving Access Denied for site link. Intermittently the library links works. During investigation the group disappeared in the library permissions and needed to be re-added. I had created a SP group in a test site a week or so ago and all worked fine and the current site with the issue. Today the test group in the Test Site is still working, but if I create a new one just like I did a week or so ago, the user is getting Access Denied.Solved79Views0likes2CommentsMicrsoft Loops Vs SharePoint for building knowledge base
I usually create knowledge bases for the company using SharePoint, because of those main reasons:- we can have hubs and sites linked to the sites, then we can define search hub-scoped ability to add web parts inside pages and show certain content based on their content types each component inside SharePoint can have unique permission including site, lists, libraries, documents, items and folders we can share with internal/external users there is a built-in SharePoint mobile app can customize certain lists using power apps and apply approval and workflow using power automate can have the knowledge as documents or pages or both of them ability to easily move documents between sites apply custom metadata to documents and pages and much more now i want to start a new project for a client, and they mentioned about Microsoft loops, so i am not sure does Microsoft loops provides all of the above features? i checked some documentation and tutorials and seems it more like a single SharePoint page for live collaboration but not for building an enterprise knowledge based ,, am i correct? Hi, At my company, we would like to use our corporate SPO infra more and more to diminish our local storage needs and foster collaboration but the problem is that we are having a huge sprawl and we don't have any control of what is being published like confidential stuff, documents with personal data in them, DBs etc. Is there a paper with Central IT SPO management best practices that can help us controlling/avoiding this type of situations? I have a document set content type named DS123, and it contains 2 custom columns D1 & D2 as follow:- then i created a content type named "D" which contain a custom column named "D3":- and define it inside the document set content type + i define the D1 as a shared column, as follow:- now i created a document set folder based on the DS123 , then i added a document inside it based on the "D" content type. then i selected the document, where i will get those columns (D1 -the shared column- & D3), as follow:- but the modification i do inside the D1 columns will not get applied, unlike the modification to the D3 column.. so what is the reason? is this that the D1 is a shared column from the document set? if this is the case, then how we can disable the field inside the property panel? Hello, I've got a folder that invertedly (now clue how) ended up in the root folder of the SharePoint on my local Windows. I have no idea how it ended up here. It’s causing several problems: This folder is mirroring a folder that is already inside the SharePoint Documents library when I have SharePoint opened via browser. (see two screenshots below) How is that possible that a folder is in two locations at the same time? 2. This, in turn, is causing sync issues with the Documents folder, as the above folder also exists in the legitimate Documents folder (I guess creating a sync conflict between two locations?) 3. When I try to move the problematic folder, I can't, I get an error, as the folder is in use (I guess by the OneDrive client that makes the sync?) 4. This folder on the SharePoint Root, I can't find on SharePoint online. It’s not visible, as I can only access the Document library in SharePoint online (and not the overarching folder?) How can I untangle this mess and restore the correct hierarchy and sync? What are the best steps to fix?Solved41Views0likes2CommentsEach user appears to have their own List Views
In the same list that All users have access to View, and some users have access to Edit, every user has their own available List Views. Even though the Sharepoint Site WebPart was setup to show a specific View, only the user account that created the Views is seeing the selected View, while all other users only seeing the All Items view. Here are the List Views that we built and should be available to all: Here's what all other users are seeing: No additional restrictions have been placed on the List or the Site. This happens within the List directly and via the webpart showing the list on the site. All searches through help forums have come up empty handed in finding why users area getting a different experience when access the same List.
