Mailbox Names Missing in Favorites Section - Outlook LTSC 2024
Hello, I’m experiencing an issue with Outlook LTSC 2024 where mailbox names are missing in the Favorites section of the folder pane. When I add a folder (e.g., the Inbox) from a shared mailbox to my Favorites, it only shows as "Inbox" without the associated mailbox name. For example: On my own system, I see "Inbox - email address removed for privacy reasons" in Favorites. For the affected user, it just displays "Inbox." This creates confusion as the user has access to many shared mailboxes, so the Favorites list ends up with multiple "Inbox" entries without any way to distinguish which mailbox they belong to. Steps Taken: Cached Exchange Mode: Verified this is turned off. New Profile: Created a new Outlook profile. The issue persists across all profiles for the user. Different Computer: The user logged into a different computer with the same Outlook version and settings as mine. The issue followed them, indicating it’s likely tied to their mailbox or Exchange settings. Auto-Mapping: Verified that auto-mapping is working. Folder Renaming: The "Rename Folder" option is greyed out and unavailable. Reset Views: Folder views have been reset to defaults, but the problem persists. Outlook Updates: Confirmed that Outlook is fully patched. Environment Details: Outlook LTSC 2024 (fully patched) Exchange Online (auto-mapping enabled for shared mailboxes) Cached Exchange Mode is disabled Questions: Is there a specific setting in Exchange or Outlook that forces mailbox names to appear in the Favorites section? Are there any additional registry settings or configurations that I might have missed? Has anyone else experienced this issue, and if so, how was it resolved? I’ve exhausted most of the common troubleshooting steps and would greatly appreciate any advice or solutions. Thank you!Solved115Views1like3CommentsRule to only show 3rd email received with same subject
When a report fails, I receive an email notifying me that it failed. The reports will retry twice so I then receive a second and third email. The report doesn’t fully fail until the third email which is when I actually need to take action. Most often a second or third email is never received but with hundreds of reports it would be nice to only receive the third email on my inbox to remove some noise and make it easier to highlight when I need to take action. All three emails will be from the same sender, with the same subject, and received within 60 minutes of each other. I’d love the first two emails to move to a different folder and the third email stay in my inbox. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to configure a rule for this but no luck. Any tips?Solved29Views0likes2CommentsOutlook 2021 and Gmail - Outlook doesn't delete Gmail All Mail
I've set up Outlook as the front end for my Gmail account. I can send and receive all my Gmail messages using Outlook. I have set up a number of folders in Outlook to sort mail. These appear fine in Gmail. When I delete a message in Outlook and then check Gmail, that message is no longer in the InBox. HOWEVER, when I check All Mail, the message is still there. and if I have moved it to another folder, copies of the message with those tags are there as well. How do I set up Gmail/Outlook to use Outlook as my interface for Gmail so that deleting messages in Outlook correctly deletes them in Gmail as well? P.S. The same question applies to settings on my Android phone. Thanks in advance.Solved111Views0likes3CommentsNon-breaking spaces by default
Hi everyone, I got a user who found that her print preview was weirdly formatted and after a bit of research I found that she had non-breaking space characters instead of regular spaces in her mails. The issue is that it seems to be a kind of "by default" behavior for her when composing a new mail since she did not do that on purpose (by inputting the related key combination). The only workaround I found at the moment is telling her to copy and paste with "text-only" option to have regular spaces inserted instead of non-breaking ones. Does anyone know how this can be fixed ? Important note : macros are disabled by default in my organization so I can't craft some weird VBA script to fix this (and yes I tried since I am running out of ideas).Solved77Views0likes6CommentsWhat to do about an out-of-date .ost file?
I'm upgrading the SSD in my laptop, so I cloned the old one onto a bigger one and swapped them. Windows (finally) boots fine, with all my apps intact. When I launch Outlook however, it tells me it's using an old copy of my data (.ost) file, that I should exit Outlook, delete the .ost, and then relaunch. Outlook will then create a new one. I think this happened because it was a few days between making the clone and getting it to boot. This is my backup PC, though, and Outlook on my desktop (main) PC is up-to-date. Should I just copy that one over? If so, where do I find it? A search for all the .ost files on my PC yields 41 matches. How do I identify the right one? Thanks for any tips.Solved87Views0likes3CommentsReply all to the previous email in the thread function

Hello, I predominantly use Outlook through the website on Chrome. A recent update changed the way the ribbon operates. I like the slim profile of the 'simplified ribbon,' but essential features have been removed from the simplified ribbon (like being able to report an email as junk or phishing) without a lot of extra clicks. In order to keep those on the ribbon, I have to use the classic ribbon, which takes up a LOT of extra space on the screen. Is there an option to customize the simplified ribbon on the website? It seems ridiculous that such an important feature - the ability to report junk - is being buried! Thank you!Solved49Views1like4CommentsCan No Longer Send Email To My External Email Account
I used to be able to do the following with no issues. Now it fails. I am paying a subscription to use Outlook.com, and I do not use it for free. I am finding no way to get any support for something that I am paying for, and it is now not working as it used to. How do I get support now? I take photos using my Andoid phone to then send that photos I just took to my non-Microsoft external email address hosted by ZOHO email. As I wrote above, I used to be able to do this with no issues. Now all attempts to send email with JPG attachments to my ZOHO email address results in a failure: Your message wasn't delivered because the recipient's email provider rejected it. I am paying for ZOHO email, so I contacted support asking why my email is being rejected. Support troubleshooted this to find that they are not even receiving the email. Microsoft is not even sending it. This used to work, but now it is broken. How can I get support for this?Solved69Views1like1CommentProblems with Quick Steps in Outlook New

As part of complying with security best practise we have converted ‘shared’ regular mailboxes to shared mailboxes. A key requirement is to enable shared mailbox to be set as default and to enable mail sent from SM to go to the SM Sent Items folder. Part of the process is to add the SM under File/Account Settings/Account Settings/New but because these have been used before, the credentials have been stored and auto discovery then prevents the option to ‘Sign in with another account’ on the password pop up… as documented by Microsoft… see section 2d: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/troubleshoot/profiles-and-accounts/add-shared-mailbox-as-additional-account These are the things I have tried to: Removed any previous ost and auto discovery xml files linked with the converted mailbox Disable Auto-Mapping using Exchange Online Powershell Cleared Cached Credentials Cleared any previously saved identities in the registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office<version>\Common\Identity Created New Outlook profile Reset AutoDiscover Settings (outlook.exe /resetnavpane) Disable AutoDiscovery (reg tweak) Disabled Simplified Account Creation (reg hack) Checked for Outlook updates I have proved this works with a MS engineer last night on a fresh laptop account but I really need to fix existing user accounts. Hello folks, After 40 years of working with MS and a variety of your products and services, it is a lame facility that has forced me here to report a catastrophic outlook server failure when sending a simple email. And yes, I am having a dig at the attitude Microsoft takes to its users by preventing any communication as some senior execs got a few broadsides. I am the receiver of these server failures, the sender is a normal other client. I've been receiving this status for a couple of weeks now on 20% of my incoming email. (I'm getting this from all sorts of users, I've pasted the whole trace as there's nowhere else to communicate this level of failure. My initial research picked up on attempted spam and other misleading causes) The referenced email address of (duc2fait @ gmail.com) appears after the next lines and is key to the cause of this failure, why is the Outlook Server sending there?? The sender's tech support has confirmed that the sender's emails are in fact being sent and are shown as being delivered to me. A Microsoft Outlook.com support agent told me that Microsoft needs the SMTP logs from the sender as the only way to diagnose the problem. However, the sender is a major financial institution and the sender's tech support told me they will never release such info due to security issues. I'm being bounced back and forth and back forth between Microsoft's Outlook.com support and Microsoft's Outlook web in-app support, each say the other team can fix this issue. Has anyone else ever experienced this issue and fixed it by doing something I haven't tried yet?Solved1.3KViews0likes13Comments
